Yay, Valor!

We didn’t share many details while Valor was hospitalized, because there wasn’t much change day to day.. Except last Friday night while leaving our event our president got a call from the emergency vet - the update was bad. Valor wasn’t doing well. He was declining, he couldn’t stand up, he was starting down a downward slope and all we could do was give him time.

We opted to give him the night, we knew he would guide us in the right direction.

Valor fought so hard to beat this deadly virus and we are so happy to have him back in foster.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our rescue, supports us, adopts from us, and believes in us to save these unwanted souls and make them whole again. Your donations literally save lives. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Our hearts break for this rescue. We work with and support Allie and Pals; they are beyond wonderful people who keep trucking along through all the obstacles they encounter. Please consider supporting them so that they can weather this storm and continue giving second chances to those dogs who otherwise would not get one ❤️‍🩹

🐾 Tick Season Is Here 🐾

We’re seeing a significant rise in ticks across our area, and with that comes an increased risk of Lyme disease for both pets and people. Ticks are no longer just a “spring problem", they’re active anytime temperatures are above freezing! This makes year-round protection more important than ever.

Why this matters:

Lyme disease can cause joint pain, fever, lethargy, and long-term health issues in dogs
Ticks can be as small as a poppy seed and are easy to miss
Even indoor pets are at risk if ticks hitch a ride inside

What you can do:
✔️ Check your pets daily, especially after being outdoors
✔️ Keep grass and brush trimmed in your yard
✔️ Use a reliable, vet-recommended tick preventative

We strongly recommend products like Bravecto (long-lasting protection) or Simparica Trio (monthly protection that also covers heartworm and intestinal parasites). These are safe, effective, and much more reliable than over-the-counter options.

Protecting your pet now can prevent serious illness later. If you have questions about which option is best for your pet, give us a call!

Stay safe and enjoy the outdoors 🌿

We'd like to share a spotlight on Forgotten Felines of WNY, INC. They are a volunteer run, foster-based cat rescue local to us in WNY. They are at serious risk of closure due to urgent financial needs. Please consider donating food (adult cat food both wet and dry, and urinary and kidney prescription diets are always useful as well!), supplies, or monetary donations are very helpful to put toward medical care. Give them a follow! They have some sweet faces waiting to find their furever homes 💜

Your gracious donations of towels have left us stocked for the foreseeable future! Please consider taking any more towel donations to the Erie County or Niagara County SPCA. Thank you again!

We are in urgent need of blankets at the Niagara Falls shelter. With so many dogs coming through our doors, we’re running critically low on clean, warm blankets to keep them comfortable and cozy.

If you have gently used or new blankets you’re able to donate, it would make an immediate difference for the dogs in our care. Every blanket helps provide warmth, comfort, and a sense of security while they wait for their forever homes.

Please drop off blankets at the Niagara Falls shelter or share this post to help spread the word. Thank you for always showing up for these dogs ❤️
