Meet Licorice, a sleek little mini house panther with golden eyes, a built-in purr motor and absolutely NO plans to become a productive member of society. 🖤

He may look like a fearsome jungle predator...

But we've reviewed his résumé. 😹

📋 LICORICE'S PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
🐾 Olympic-level zoomies

Basically, he's hired. 😂

Licorice takes his kitten responsibilities VERY seriously. There are toys to chase, cats to wrestle, rooms to race through and household objects that apparently need to be investigated immediately.

But don't let his demanding work schedule fool you. Once his shift at the Chaos Factory ends, Licorice is more than happy to clock out and collect his compensation in the form of cuddles. ❤️

Licorice LOVES other cats and is currently being fostered with a dog, so he's also discovering that dogs are less “terrifying beast” and more “large, slightly weird roommate.”

Because Licorice is still a young kitten, he needs a home with another friendly cat or kitten. He'll need a feline teammate to help with the essential responsibilities of wrestling, chasing, learning proper kitty manners and plotting the eventual takeover of your living room.

🍭🐾 MEET VERUCA — SHE WANTS PLAYTIME, AND SHE WANTS IT NOW! 🐾🍭

No, Veruca isn't demanding a golden goose.

She would, however, like that toy. And that spring. And the ball under the couch. And whatever her sibling is currently playing with.

Preferably...

NOW. 😹

One of the kittens from our W***y Wonka crew, Veruca is a vivacious little girl with places to go, toys to chase and absolutely NO time for standing still.

📋 TODAY'S VERY IMPORTANT VERUCA ITINERARY:
🐾 Race through the room
🐾 Investigate EVERYTHING
🐾 Pounce on something suspicious
🐾 Wrestle a sibling
🐾 Check whether the humans have snacks
🐾 Repeat until battery reaches 0%

Veruca is curious, confident and constantly on the move. No toy remains untested. No corner goes unexplored. And no sibling should ever become too comfortable because a surprise pounce could occur at any moment. 😂

She plays with complete commitment until that tiny battery finally gives out.
And THAT'S when Veruca clocks out from her positions as Director of Exploration and Executive Zoomie Coordinator and reports to her humans to collect her compensation:

🌌🐾 MEET DARTH — THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE… ESPECIALLY WHEN A WAND TOY IS INVOLVED. 🐾🌌

Meet Darth—a handsome black-and-white, 4-month-old little Sith Lord with one particularly distinguished feature: a perfectly placed spot above his lip that looks just like a tiny beauty mark.

Because apparently even the Dark Side appreciates a little glamour. 😹

Don't let the dashing good looks and formidable name fool you. While his namesake may bring to mind plans for galactic domination, Darth has slightly different priorities:

✨ Treats
✨ Toys
✨ A feline sidekick
✨ Taking over the galaxy at his own pace

Darth is a curious, clever and cautiously confident little guy who prefers to survey the scene before deciding whether it's worthy of his participation.

New human approaching?

Imperial inspection initiated. 🧐

Ginny is a gorgeous little calico with soft fur, one-of-a-kind markings and a very simple philosophy:

At around 14 weeks old, this sweet, social girl loves being around people and is always happy to report for playtime, cuddles or any situation in which attention may potentially be distributed.

Basically, Ginny has never met a social engagement she couldn't squeeze into her calendar.

Bring out a stick toy and things get serious. Ginny LOVES chasing, pouncing and perfecting her technique—and she's more than happy to demonstrate her skills repeatedly should you require additional evidence. 😂

🐾🧡 MEET COURTNEY — POCKET-SIZED TORTIE, FULL-SIZED ATTITUDE! 🧡🐾

Courtney may only be 10–11 weeks old, but apparently nobody remembered to tell her she's tiny.

She's operating with the confidence of a cat approximately six times her size. 😹
This spunky little tortie was found tucked under the hood of a car, and since making her way to safety, she's been VERY busy showing everyone exactly what she's made of: courage, curiosity, cuddles and a healthy helping of tortitude.

Courtney currently hangs out with her older foster friends, Goose and Ginny, and she has absolutely no problem keeping up with the big kids.

They wrestle? Courtney wrestles.
They chase? Courtney chases.
They get a little rowdy? Courtney would like you to hold her tiny beverage. 😂

She's brave, playful and determined to be included in whatever fun is happening. Her small stature has never once interfered with her very large opinion of her own athletic abilities.

But once Courtney has finished proving that she is, in fact, a force to be reckoned with, this little firecracker turns into one seriously sweet snuggle bug. ❤️

🐾❤️ CAT RESCUE TAKES A VILLAGE… AND OUR VILLAGE COULD REALLY USE A FEW MORE HUMANS! ❤️🐾

People sometimes ask what it takes to keep a cat rescue running.
The answer?

Food. Litter. Laundry. Love. And an alarming amount of scooping. 😹

Right now, Cat by Cat Inc. urgently needs more volunteers—particularly Direct Care Volunteers and Foster Volunteers—to help us continue caring for the cats and kittens who depend on us.

🐱 DIRECT CARE VOLUNTEERS

Have one shift a week to spare? That's enough to make a real difference!
Our Direct Care Volunteers help keep our shelter cats happy, healthy and comfortable by:

🐾 Feeding hungry little faces
🐾 Cleaning kennels and living spaces
🐾 Keeping the laundry mountain under control
🐾 Scooping litter boxes—glamorous? No. Necessary? VERY. 😂
🐾 Playing, petting and socializing with our cats and kittens

Yes, there's cleaning involved.

But there are also purrs, head bumps, kitten antics and cats who start recognizing you as one of their favorite people. ❤️

🏡 FOSTER VOLUNTEERS

No room at the shelter?

Sometimes the answer is your spare bedroom.

Fosters provide cats and kittens with a temporary, loving place to stay until they're ready for adoption. You'll help with feeding, cleaning, litter boxes, socialization and—this is very important—conducting extensive research into exactly how many kitten cuddles one human can withstand. 😹

You don't need to be an expert.

You don't need to foster bottle babies.

You don't need to take on kittens who require extra socialization unless that's something you're comfortable doing.

You just need a safe space, some time and a willingness to care.

We'll provide guidance along the way, and we can often help with food, litter and other supplies.

💙 AND RIGHT NOW, WE REALLY NEED YOU.

Several of our Direct Care shifts are difficult to fill.

Every one of our foster homes is currently full.

And when the people and places we rely on are stretched to capacity, it becomes much harder to say “yes” when the next cat or litter of kittens needs somewhere safe to go.

Volunteering doesn't have to mean rearranging your entire life.

One shift matters.
One foster home matters.
One more person willing to help matters.

Because behind every successful rescue story is a whole bunch of people who fed, cleaned, scooped, fostered, cuddled, transported and showed up when they were needed.

Hi, I’m Helen! I'm a sweet, gentle girl who doesn't ask for much but to feel safe and to feel loved. I am around 4 years old and haven't found my forever home yet, but I remain brave and hopeful while I wait. I may seem quite relaxed to you at first, but I have to admit, I have a goofy side. I LOVE to get under blankets, and not because I don't want you to find me, but because it feels cozy and safe. I'd really love a window where I can hang out and watch the birds, and a person who will bring my fun side out with a wand toy. Afterwards, we can lounge on the couch, and I will plop right on my side when you pet me, soaking it all up!

I don't mind other cats; I just want a quiet, calm place to enjoy the little things in life. I hope you'll have me!

Just like some people, Helen has special dietary needs. To keep their urinary system happy and healthy, they’ll need to stay on a prescription urinary diet for life. As long as the right food stays on the menu, it’s simply part of their everyday routine. We’ll make sure their adopter has all the information they need to keep those dinner orders coming!

🍭🐾 MEET VIOLET — SEEKING A LAP, A WAND TOY & A MORE REASONABLE SIBLING-TO-SQUARE-FOOT RATIO! 🐾🍭

Violet is one of seven kittens in the W***y Wonka litter. She has no idea who W***y Wonka is, but at this point she assumes he's somehow responsible for all these siblings. 😹

Seven kittens under one roof means there's ALWAYS someone to chase, wrestle, pounce on or conveniently blame when something mysteriously hits the floor.
Violet loves joining in the fun—especially when a wand toy makes an appearance—but even the most devoted sister has her limits.

When things become a little too W***y Wonka and the Chaos Factory, Violet heads straight to the top of the cat tree and checks into her private penthouse for a well-earned power nap. 💤

🏨 THE ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE:
🐾 One cozy sleeping platform
🐾 Excellent views of the kitten commotion below
🐾 Limited sibling access
🐾 Absolutely no room service

Violet has submitted several requests to management for additional privacy. Her foster mom responded with treats, pets and lap cuddles, so negotiations are going surprisingly well. 😂

And those lap cuddles are VERY important to Violet. ❤️ When she isn't wrestling with her siblings, whacking wand toys or enjoying penthouse life, this sweet girl loves curling up with her foster mom and soaking up affection.

Violet is playful, people-loving, social and sweet—with just enough independence to know when it's time to remove herself from the nonsense.

But don't mistake her occasional solo retreat for wanting to be an only kitty! Violet LOVES having feline friends for companionship, playtime and, naturally, someone to witness her finest wand-toy maneuvers.

What's the point of executing a flawless pounce if nobody is there to applaud? 👏😹
