Wow !!! All I can think of right now is How Greatful I am to have the support and education to have saved this foal !!!
Thank you CSU Equine Reproduction Laboratory!! Without your class I would have had no clue what to do in this situation ~ but your outstanding training in the January 2026- Equine Reproductive Management: Stallion, Mare, and Newborn Foal prepared me fully for what happened next ๐๐
Mare was in labor hard for Way Too long ~ Amniotic sac presented but nothing else ~ Ronnie and I (Tisha) watched and kept hoping, just a foot ~ anything ! At 2:50am she repositioned again with her butt to the wall and out of site of the camera "OF COURSE" .. I went in to check her and the sac was ruptured now and still no baby!! Grabbed my gloves, jelly, and ob straps and went straight in. Milly stood like a champ as I found 1 foot, got the strap on that leg, Ronnie held... felt the nose and got the strap on the other foot.. we pulled and I caught the foal, brought it to the ground... It all happened so fast.I'm not sure if there was even a heartbeat or breathing, but she was not moving. And her eyes were wide open. I started to rub her frantically and gave her a few mouth-to-mouth breaths, and she started to come alive.!!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Thank you to ARS - Animal Reproduction Systems for putting together a Great foaling kit with everything I needed !! โค๏ธ
Thank you to my AMAZING VET ~ Callie Garoutte for answering not 1 but 2 of my frantic phone calls and for the Oxytocin I needed for the Next part !! Milly was holding tight to the placenta.. 3 doses and wet towels tieing up the bag to add a gentle weight .. full, intact placenta emerges at 11:30am. With assistance from the owners CONGRATULATIONS Lori Olson Crittenden and Jeff Crittenden ๐ on your healthy momma and filly pair out of Metallic Blue Cat DR !!!
I'm so so so happy and greatful this day turned out the way it has !!!! ๐๐ซถ๐๐ซถ
