His paws were cold, his belly was empty, and his spirit was nearly broken. Farcik, a small abandoned dog in Suwałki, Poland, wasn't searching for love—just a warm place to rest. That desperate search led him onto a patch of freshly dumped tar, which looked like solid ground. But the moment he lay down, it became a cruel trap, gluing his tiny body to the earth. He was stuck.
Fear gripped him as the tar clung tighter with every struggle. But then, he did the bravest thing a broken soul could do: he barked. Weak and shaky at first, but he didn't stop. His desperate cries for mercy reached nearby workers, who followed the sound and were shocked to find him half-swallowed by the black mess. They immediately called for help.
Animal rescuer Joanna Godlewska from the Niczyje Animal Foundation rushed to the scene. With gentle hands and a soft voice, she and a team from the fire department and police worked for what felt like hours. They carefully cut away fur and poured oil to loosen the tar's grip, refusing to give up until he was finally pulled free.
The horrors didn't end there. At the vet, they discovered nearly one hundred ticks clinging to him—a sign of his long, lonely suffering. But Farcik's story was finally changing. After multiple warm baths and his first real meal, he was given a soft bed. He is now safe in a foster home, learning that not every hand hurts. His courage is inspiring thousands as he heals, preparing for the day he'll find a forever home where he will only ever bark for joy.
