**An Update from Bill and Wendy**
What started as an empty field, with an old **For Sale** sign hidden in the grass, became the beginning of a dream. Bill and I have always been hard workers and dreamers, and we believed we could create something special here.
After careful consideration, we have decided to **continue Red Chair Lavender and suspend our plans to sell.**
For **41 years—more than half of our lives—this has been our home.** We built our home with our own hands, planted the trees, raised our children here, and imagined what this place could become.
As we’ve gotten older, we started looking at other property and even considered building again. But we realized it wouldn’t really be a home—it would just be a house. And the more we thought about it, the more we realized we would probably just try to recreate what we already have here.
**This is our home.** We designed it, built it, created it, and filled it with decades of memories. And in many ways, it still isn’t finished. We still have ideas, projects, and things we want to create.
We could have sold to outside interests, but we came to realize that what we created here could never really be duplicated. Someone can buy land, buildings and a business, but they cannot buy the history, memories and relationships that made Red Chair Lavender what it is.
**We made this place. We love it. And we have decided it is worth keeping, enjoying, and continuing to build upon.**
So, for now, **we are staying put.**
We truly enjoy those of you who come to visit us, share your stories, and appreciate what we have created. And to our **off-season guests**, an extra thank you. Lavender may be thought of as a summer crop, but Red Chair is here **year-round** for products, gifts and visits.
We are open **Thursday through Sunday all year**, and we would especially love to hear from you:
