Update:Miel is in recovery, they only extracted 2 teeth and fixed 2 nasal fistulas. Which is not uncommon for the dachshund breed when they have dental disease.
I know there are many people that fear age as an obstacle for getting their dog's teeth done, but honestly, if their heart and body functions are normal, it is safe to do so. Age is not a disease that prevents putting your dogs under anesthesia. Do the bloodwork if possible every year on your dogs to find early onset of any organ function disease. Catching things early is what helps prevent issues.
Dental disease can affect many organs, it has been linked to heart and kidney disease. So please dont allow your pet to suffer if you can afford to do it before their mouth needs extractions.
Prevention is the key to a healthy pet.
I unfortunately haven't had the money to get her in. When I finally did, she had her back go out and all her dental money went toward getting her walking again. My poor baby was in discomfort for sometime. Im just glad her organs didn't get compromised because of it.
She will have her choppers now..so watch out for Ms Spicy...lol. π she actually has come a long way. She isn't spicy anymore....Hopefully she will stay nice.
