⭐️Star ⭐️ is a sweet gaited mare owned by some great neighbors of mine. She had spent most of her life as a broodmare and came to me with a little riding experience from her previous owners, but she still needed help developing a more solid ridden foundation.

During her 30-day tune-up, we worked on refreshing and strengthening that foundation, building her confidence, preparing her for the trails, and improving her trailering skills—including teaching her how to back out of the trailer for the first time, which had been especially tricky for her!

One of my favorite parts was getting to ride alongside Star and her owners out in the mountains after she returned home. It was such a rewarding, full-circle moment to see them confidently enjoying her and using the tools we worked on during her time with me.

Training is only the beginning of the foundation, so it’s always awesome to send a horse home with new skills and give her owners the tools they need to keep building from there. Star was such a fun little mare to work with! 💙

Two really special starts from this summer—Scooby, the tri-colored Paint, and Sweetie, the blue roan. 💙

I’ve had the opportunity to start both of these young horses from the very beginning, and there is something incredibly rewarding about being part of the earliest chapters of a horse’s journey.

Before the first rides come all the smaller pieces—learning how to understand pressure, finding relaxation, building confidence, accepting equipment, and developing trust in the process.

Their journeys are only beginning, but the shifts they’ve already made have been amazing. Watching them become more confident, thoughtful, and prepared for each new step has been one of the most enjoyable parts of my summer.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to help build their foundations, and I’m excited to see where their journeys take them from here!

One of the most rewarding transformations from this summer. 💙

This sensitive Mustang Indy came to me with quite a bit of history and needed a thoughtful 90-day restart. He had worked with other trainers previously, but his owner still hadn’t been able to safely and successfully ride him herself.

We spent those 90 days rebuilding his foundation, helping him better understand pressure, and creating more relaxation, softness, and confidence. There were so many small pieces and emotional shifts that went into creating the change we ultimately saw in him.

These photos capture something incredibly special—the first times his owner was finally able to ride and enjoy her own horse safely and successfully.

There is so much more behind moments like these than simply getting a horse ridden. It’s about changing how they think, helping them feel safer, and building a foundation that both the horse and owner can continue growing from. I was incredibly proud of this team and everything they accomplished together!

It’s been a busy and incredibly rewarding summer here at RJR Horsemanship! 💙

I haven’t shared nearly enough on this page, but behind the scenes there have been so many meaningful moments—first rides, owner milestones, c**t starts, trail adventures, confidence building, and some truly special transformations.

Over the next few weeks, I’m excited to look back and share more of the horses, people, and progress that made this summer so memorable. I’m incredibly grateful to every owner who trusted me to be part of their horse’s journey!
