This week we're celebrating the people who do SO much behind the scenes to keep our patients happy, healthy, and safe.

Our veterinary technicians are there for the blood draws, radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, treatments, medications, patient care, emergencies, nervous pets, messy moments, and everything in between.

But more than anything, they're there to make sure our patients receive the care and compassion they deserve. ❤️

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

🍖🐶🐱 A LITTLE EXTRA LOVE CAN ADD UP!

October 14 is "Pet Obesity Awareness Day", and it's a good reminder that keeping our pets at a healthy weight is about more than appearance.

Extra weight can put additional stress on joints and can contribute to health problems that affect your pet's quality of life.

And yes…those puppy-dog eyes are VERY convincing. 😂

Instead of guessing whether your pet is at a healthy weight, ask your veterinary team to help you determine what's appropriate for *your individual pet.*

Sometimes loving them means saying, “No more treats.” 😅❤️🐾

This year, VCA Eads is celebrating Dia de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, with an ofrenda in our front lobby. This ofrenda altar is to honor our pets and loved ones that have passed on, and celebrate life, family, and the bond between the living and the passed. We invite our friends and clients to bring photos or write the name of their beloved pets that have passed on to display on the ofrenda.

Dia de los Mu***os is a traditional Mexican holiday observed on November 1-2. October 27 is often observed for pets that have passed on. The ofrenda will remain in the lobby until November 2.
