Dyer County Adult Leadership has selected this as our community project for 2017. Meghan Douglass, a new resident to Dyersburg and member of Dyer County Adult Leadership, noticed that we lacked a Dog Park that would allow dogs to socialize and play without a leash. The group was convinced that this was a desirable project and took the lead! What can it do for the community? The Dog Park would allo

w dogs to exercise and socialize safely. Puppies and adult dogs need room to run, and enclosed play areas permit them to do so while preventing them from endangering themselves and others (for example, by running into the path of an oncoming vehicle). In addition, dogs who are accustomed to playing with animals and people other than their owners are likely to be well socialized and react well toward strangers. This park would promote responsible dog ownership. Dog parks prevent off-leash animals from infringing on the rights of other community residents and park users such as joggers, small children, and those who may be fearful of dogs. Parks also make it easier for a city to enforce its leash laws, as resident dog owners with park access have no reason to allow their canine companions off-leash when outside of the park. Since the city has offered a location for this project, Dyer County Adult Leadership will soon begin fundraising and organizing to make it happen. Hey folks, I saw this when visiting the dog park today and informed the park’s director. I will update as soon as I have more information, but please USE CAUTION ⚠️

Also, the black crate attached to the fence is for toys so the mowers don’t mow over them. It is not a trash bin. There is a trash bin located in the entrance to the dog park.
