I say Irv is right! We have a “farmers market” local to our farm, and they delineate selling areas: “organic” farmers are allotted interior space, “traditional” farmers must set up outside, scorching sun or rain. Also, no one can sell anything “from china”, but the single consistent “handmade bag” maker uses fabrics from China? Keeping with the tradition of this particular market, plastics were not allowed for years, especially single use plastic bags; however the market itself could sell branded plastic reusable bags… MADE IN CHINA! The market also discriminates against any farmer who buys anything from the big city produce hub to resell, for example early crops from states to the south; but the market allows a “vendor” (who is not a farmer) to purchase several lines of products (sauces, drinks, syrups) from small producers who are not at all local, and calls it “(name of market) shop”, or something to that effect.

Bigotry, exclusivity, and stupid, all wrapped up into a package by a privileged white woman. 🤷🏻‍♀️
