βπΊπΈ **HAPPY 251st BIRTHDAY, UNITED STATES NAVY!** πΊπΈβ
Today, October 13, we celebrate 251 years of honor, courage, commitment, and service to our nation. Since 1775, generations of sailors have proudly answered the call, serving at sea, on land, and around the world.
Here at Duvall Veterinary Hospital, the United States Navy holds a special place in our hearts. Our very own Dr. G is married to a proud Navy veteran who served our country for 11 years, including time aboard the aircraft carriers USS Kitty Hawk and USS John C. Stennis, as well as a shore assignment at Whidbey Island. We're also fortunate to have a retired Navy veteran as part of our DVH team, bringing the same dedication, discipline, and commitment to service into the work we do every day.
While our mission at DVH is caring for the four-legged members of your family, we also understand the importance of service, sacrifice, dedication, and taking care of one another. Those are values that extend far beyond the military and are deeply rooted in who we are as a small-town veterinary hospital.
πΎβ **BUT LET'S NOT FORGET THE FOUR-LEGGED SAILORS!**
Throughout the Navy's history, dogs have also found their place aboard ships and alongside sailors. From beloved ship mascots who provided companionship and a little piece of home during long deployments, to highly trained military working dogs serving in security and explosive detection roles, these remarkable animals have made their own contributions to naval service.
For generations, shipboard dogs have helped lift morale, comfort sailors far from their families, and become cherished members of their crews. Today, military working dogs continue to serve alongside Navy personnel in demanding environments around the world, protecting lives with the same loyalty and courage we've come to admire in our own four-legged companions.
And while they may not understand the meaning of a uniform, a rank, or a mission, they certainly understand loyalty, trust, and the bond they share with the people beside them. β€οΈπ
There's an old saying: **"Smooth seas never made a skilled sailor."** It's a reminder that strength, resilience, and character are often forged during life's most challenging moments. It's a sentiment that resonates with us, both personally and professionally.
Today, we want to recognize not only the sailors currently standing the watch but also the generations of veterans who served before them, the military families who have sacrificed alongside them, and the four-legged companions who have faithfully served at their sides. We're especially proud to recognize the Navy veterans who are part of our own DVH family. Their service is something we will always respect and appreciate.
From our DVH family to every Navy veteran, active-duty sailor, military family, and military working dog, **thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment.**
