While the IEA Team was away, we decided to play!

Yesterday we held our first Intro to Obstacles group lesson, and it was a blend of fun and learning for both horses and riders, ending in all smiles.

Obstacle work helps riders develop timing, balance and body control, all while encouraging horses to stay curious, confident, and thoughtful while approaching something new. It’s a great way to build partnership while reinforcing the fundamentals we focus on here at Re*****on Farm.

🐎 Would you like to see more of these group lessons on the calendar? Let us know in the comments!

✨ A Big Day for Two Very Good Boys at IEA Zones! ✨

Today at IEA Zones at DevonWood Equestrian Centre in Sherwood, Oregon, two of our Re*****on Farm horses represented the program beautifully — and we couldn’t be prouder.

Mr. Silas, our 18-year-old Canadian Warmblood, has had quite the journey. This big guy has spent many years in the show ring, but last August he faced a serious challenge when he suffered a major colic that required surgery. When he colicked again shortly after, it took a dedicated and knowledgeable team at home to help him pull through.

With patient conditioning and thoughtful riding from our trainers, Silas has steadily come back into work — and today he happily returned to the ring, coursing in the 2’, cross-rails, and flat classes. He was an absolute gentleman and reminded us all what heart and resilience look like. 💙

And then there’s Dragonfly, who joined Re*****on Farm this past July and quickly became a favorite among our riders. Today marked his first ever away-from-home show with us, and he handled it like a seasoned pro, confidently coursing the flat classes and taking everything in stride. What a rock star. ⭐

A huge thank you to our incredible trainers, Anna Steinle and Erika Lee, for their steady coaching and leadership today. You make a fantastic team, and our horses and riders are better for it.

Days like this remind us why we do what we do — partnership, patience, and celebrating the journey of the horse.

🐎 Way to go, Silas and Dragonfly!

What a weekend! Re*****on Farm Pony Club members spent the past few days at the USPC Northwest Region Horse Management Camp 2026 at Camp Miracle Ranch — and it was everything Pony Club is meant to be: education, teamwork, laughter, leadership… and yes, a little friendly rodeo chaos. 🤠✨

From sunrise classes to late-night bonding, our riders immersed themselves in true Horse Management learning.

The weekend offered an incredible range of hands-on and classroom sessions, including:

🐴 Nutrition & Feeding
• How to Read Feed Bags
• Developing Your Horse’s Nutrition Program
• Forage Feeding Rules

🦴 Conformation & Anatomy
• Lower Limb Anatomy
• Conformation Analysis (including practical labs!)
• Lower Limb Dissection
• Unsoundness of the Lower Limb

🩺 Veterinary & Farrier Care
• Types & Features of Shoes
• Hoof Balance
• Lameness Evaluation
• Equine Emergencies
• Biologic Therapies

🩹 Bandaging Labs
• Polo Wraps
• Standing Bandages
• Hoof & Tail Bandaging
• Knees & Hocks

🧠 Sport Psychology & Rider Development
• Sport Psychology (Pattern Breakers!)
• Rider Biomechanics
• Establishing Elastic Contact
• Conditioning the Sport Horse

🏇 Discipline-Specific Education
• Reading the Jumper Course
• Dressage Pyramid of Training
• Cross Country Equestrian (CCE)
• Rally Inquiry Process & How to Excel at HM at a Rally

🌱 Land & Farm Management
• Farm Management & Design
• Toxic Plants
• Farm Biosecurity

And in true Pony Club fashion, learning happened at every level — from Junior D members discovering tack parts and parts of the horse, to upper-level members diving into advanced veterinary knowledge and certification prep.

But perhaps the highlight? The legendary Saturday night Rodeo in the Covered Arena. Let’s just say… hobby horses were ridden with Olympic-level intensity and the laughter could probably be heard all the way back to Duvall.

We are so proud of our Re*****on Farm members for showing up ready to learn, ask questions, support one another, and live out the Pony Club Pledge. This is where real horsemanship is built — not just in the saddle, but in knowledge, teamwork, and service.

Huge thank you to the Northwest Region leadership and instructors for an outstanding weekend. We’re already counting down to the next one! 💜💛

A Lifetime Commitment to Our Horses — Beyond the Arena

At Re*****on Farm Equestrian Academy, we believe that care for our horses isn’t just for the years we work with them — it’s a lifetime commitment. That’s why we’re excited to spotlight an important new initiative from US Equestrian: Lifetime Care Contracts.

What is the Lifetime Care Contact Program?
This free, voluntary program allows USEF members (including those with a free fan account) to add themselves as a Lifetime Care Contact on a horse’s official USEF record. If that horse ever needs help — whether financial support, a safe place to land, or assistance in tough circumstances — those listed contacts can be notified and connected.

Why it matters
Horses are more than partners — they are family. This program helps build a safety net for them, connecting them with people who have cared for them in the past and are willing to step in if needed in the future. It’s another step forward in ensuring every horse’s well-being for life.

How YOU can be involved
* If you’ve shared your life with a USEF-recorded horse, consider adding yourself as a Lifetime Care Contact through your USEF Dashboard.
* Planning to record or compete with your horse in USEF events? Take a moment to add this extra layer of care for their future.

We’re proud to support initiatives that prioritize horse welfare and encourage our community to do the same.

LIfetime care

Equestrians Institute (EI) and Lower Puget Sound Dressage Club (LPSDC) are each hosting a Scribing Clinic this spring. These hands-on clinics train aspiring scribes to confidently work in the judge's booth at schooling and recognized dressage shows. Participants learn scribing standards, including how to record scores and comments accurately, use common scribing abbreviations, manage coefficients, handle corrections and errors, and maintain proper ring etiquette and professionalism.

The classes are ideal for volunteers who want to help at shows, riders and parents who want to understand the judging process, and anyone interested in becoming a dependable, judge-requested scribe.

Good scribes are always in demand! These clinics help prepare you to be one!
