's Pet of the Week is adorable Keaton aka Batdog 🦇

"Holy bat signals! It’s me, Keaton. I’m fully prepared to be your resident "Batdog" and keep a close watch over our home! I might play it a little cool and reserved when we first meet, but once I know you're on my team? My shy exterior melts away into total charm, curiosity, and pure affection.

I am always ready to gear up for a scenic hike, explore the neighborhood on a brisk walk, or host an epic game of fetch. I also love carrying around my beloved stuffies, proudly showing them off to anyone who will look.

Because we superheroes are obviously clever, I pick things up incredibly fast. I'm already working hard on my manners and boundaries. I’m looking for a sidekick who appreciates an intelligent mind and is excited to keep learning with me, helping me build my confidence as I settle into my new home base."

🐾The Broadway Veterinary Team will be at The Animal Protection Society of Durham Walk for the Animals this Saturday, May 30th, from 9am-1pm! Come visit our booth and consider entering the raffle and participating in the walk to help raise funds for animals in need and all of the important work the APS does in our city.🐾

's pet of the week is pretty Plum!

"Hello, I'm Plum! I might be a little reserved when we first meet, but after a minute, I'll want nothing more than to be cuddled up by your side or serving as your expert co-pilot when we're out and about. A volunteer took me on a day out recently and we went walking on a pretty trail, made a pit stop at a dog-friendly store, and went for a pup cup!🧁 I rode great in the car, was calm and polite when meeting new people, and walked gently on my leash. It was the BEST day, and it really got me dreaming about all the wonderful days I'll have with my new family!

They say I'm about seven years young — I can't count, so we'll go with that! I'm old enough to have that wise air about me, and young enough to keep up with whatever you have in store for me. I'm easy — as long as I've got you by my side, I know that life will be fantastic!"

💜🦴This Pet Arthritis Awareness Month our older patients wanted to share some of their pro-tips for preventing osteoarthritis in your pets!

Keeping pets at a healthy weight reduces strain on joints and can help delay osteoarthritis (OA) as well as other health issues. As your pets enter their senior years it would be ideal to have more regular check ins with your veterinarian as pets age much faster than humans and if any OA symptoms come up your doctor can help prescribe diets, medications, or other appropriate treatments to help your pet get and remain comfortable. And finally, your veterinarian can help you navigate which supplements might be appropriate and most effective for your pet to help delay the onset of OA.

The earlier you begin arthritis prevention, especially in larger dogs, the more likely they are to stay comfortable and healthier for longer. Talk to our veterinarians today about what we can do for your pets!🦴💜

🌻Gorgeous golden Sunflower is The Animal Protection Society of Durham's Pet of the Week!

"Count on me to bring all the rays of sunshine into your life! My adorable lopsided Dorito ears are always at the ready to catch the sound of an upcoming adventure. I'm a 4-year-old medium-sized girl who believes every day is a new opportunity to explore, and I can't wait to show you my ginormous happy smile in person!

I am a "let’s go!" kind of dog. My absolute favorite things in the world are my stuffies. I also have a nice independent streak that I balance with snuggle time. I'm happy to do my own thing while you do yours, as long as we have plenty of outdoor adventures on the calendar! I’d do great with a person or family who’s looking for a loyal explorer to join them on hikes, walks, and backyard play sessions."

's Pet of the week is adorable Miss Nelly!

"Could you be my furr-ever partner in fun? I’m a 4-year-old pup with a big heart and even bigger enthusiasm for life! I have great wiggles, love to smile and am very curious and adventurous.

I’m QUITE the social butterfly! I’ve had a blast meeting new dog and human friends at lots of APS community events and showing off my moves in doggie playgroup. I’m great with kids and other pups, so I’d fit right into a busy, active home. After a fun day of exploring, my absolute favorite way to wind down is with some quality shoulder rubs — they’re the fastest way to my heart!
I’m looking for a family to join in on all the fun life has to offer, and I promise to bring the enthusiasm if you bring the snacks!"
