Subject: My goodbye letter I sent to my department yesterday!!!
Hello all:
As today is my last day onsite, I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye and, most importantly, thank you. I have honestly been crying since 8:00 am this morning. Today has been filled with so many emotions because, although I am excited about stepping into a new role and beginning a new chapter, leaving this team is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I want to especially say thank you for the luncheon and for making me feel so loved and appreciated.
I was truly touched by all of the Directors, Attorneys, Deputy Secretaries, and the Secretary who took the time to come and wish me well in my new role. The fact that so many people stopped what they were doing to celebrate me and send me off with such kind words means more to me than you will ever know. I felt the love in that room, and I will carry that feeling with me. Working with the HR team has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. Somewhere along the way, this stopped feeling like just a job and became a family to me. I have felt the love, support, encouragement, friendship, and genuine care from so many of you. Through the good days, the challenging days, the laughter, the frustrations, and everything in between, you all have made this journey special.
Dr. Adams, I am truly going to miss you. You have been an incredible boss and an exceptional leader. What makes you so special is not just your knowledge or leadership, but the way you lead with people in mind. You have given me opportunities to grow, challenged me to think differently, trusted me, and allowed me to learn and become better along the way. I am grateful for every conversation, every lesson, and every opportunity you gave me. Working for you has been an experience I will always remember and appreciate.
To my HR family, thank you for being there for me, for believing in me, for encouraging me, and for making me feel valued. Thank you for the friendships and memories that I will take with me into my next chapter. I hope you know that each of you has made an impact on my life in some way. Leaving is bittersweet because I know I am not just leaving a workplace — I am leaving people I genuinely love and care about. That is what makes today so difficult. I am excited about what God has in store for me in this next chapter, but I also know I will look back on my time here with so much gratitude. I will miss the people, the conversations, the laughs, the teamwork, and yes, even the crazy days!
Please know that I love you all so much.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and for allowing me to call you my HR family. I hope this isn't goodbye, but simply “see you later.”
I am leaving with a full heart, tears in my eyes, and so much gratitude for each of you.
Thank you for everything. I will miss you more than you know.
With all my love and gratitude,
Thanks,
