Our fantastic weekend of agility was fueled by Tucker’s Raw !

Timber always gets an added freeze dried calorie boost on sport days! He’s always pumped for meal time when he gets to eat delicious raw food that keeps him strong and energized!

Can I eat this?

We had to take this with a frozen patty because he would definitely start munching on a thawed one 😂

Did you know Tucker’s Raw has a new shape? We’re big fans!

The wider, flatter patties are SO much easier to thaw! When I get home from work around 6 pm and then have to feed them at 3:30 am the next day, sometimes it was really hard to cut into the previous patties. These are perfect! They also stack so much better in the dog freezer and are easier to portion out with a more uniform size and less air in the package helps decrease the frost on them.

Overall love this update from them 🙌🏼 and the boys still get the same great nutrition and taste as before! It’s really the little things like a shape change that make me happy 😂

We’re back 🙌🏼

13 weeks of not being able to do agility after breaking a metatarsal. Yesterday we packed up our MAVPAC with all the fun things and practiced a full ISC course! And I could run! 🥳

We have our first trial back starting tomorrow and I can’t wait. The foot gets a little painful after a bit, but it’s very manageable and worth it to be back.

Timber got so excited when he saw the mavpac because it always means we’re going to do fun things. As soon as I opened the bag he grabbed his tug toy and started rolling around. After 3 months of not really needing to use it, he was pumped to see it get packed up

Fingers crossed we get some Qs this weekend 🤞🏼

A brave bub 💛

We had to spend 5 hours at our internal medicine specialist appointment earlier this week. And we’re not much closer to figuring out what’s up with him 🙃

When our regular vet did aspirates of the swelling in his neck, both times it came back as reactive lymph node tissue. We repeated aspirates at this appointment because now his right side is also swollen. But now these two results came back as salivary gland tissue. So now we have no idea what’s swollen in his neck 🙃

He’s supposed to get an ultrasound done of his neck and maybe a CT scan but I was told scheduling team would call me and they didn’t so 🤦🏼‍♀️ we’re still just sitting in limbo

And then we think he got giardia from eating bunny p**p so it’s been a rough week for the bub 😅 oh and he now needs daily eye drops for immune scleritis…

Everybody send him happy healthy vibes so he can go back to living his best life at home and not in vet offices 😭

Happy gotcha day to my favorite golden boy who has made our lives so much better 💛

I was drawn to the “green collar boy” from day 1 and just hoped he would be a good fit. He has turned out to be the perfect choice and such a fantastic example of a golden who gets compliments everywhere he goes 🥺 I’m forever lucky to have him in my life

5 whole years together and now I can’t imagine life without a silly golden in it 💛 here’s to many many more years together 🥂

Putting a Tucker’s Raw boost cube into a West Paw tux: game changer 🙌🏼

Timber eats it a little faster still, but for Koda this is the PERFECT goodbye treat when I have to leave for work! Since he can’t just bite through the cube and has to lick it, he spent around 5-10 minutes working on it each day I worked this week!

Plus the boost cubes offer way more nutritional value compared to just spreading peanut butter or pumpkin in there! This week he got the beef organ blend, we’ll probably switch it up to the turkey necks next week 👌🏼 I’ll have to keep these stocked up in our dog freezer because they quickly became a new favorite for the boys

Do you leave your dog any special treats or activity when you go to work? Give me some extra ideas!

We always have our MAVPAC packed and ready

Unfortunately today our adventure will be postponed 😭 Timber had extra tightness noticed at his rehab appointment today so he should rest today and my foot is still pretty sore after the concert and work week. But we’re going to leave the pack ready and try again tomorrow 🤞🏼

In our pack today: e-collar, water bottle, chuck it ball, lots of treats, p**p bags, small bowl, plus my keys. So much space for supplies for any activity😍

Code: KODATIMBER at MAVPAC

Spoiler alert: he did not make this jump. He used it as a ramp. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Today is the day! I’m finally back at work after 9 unexpected weeks off for my broken foot. Not excited to be back to work, but excited to slowly be getting back to normal life!

Still about 5 weeks until we can hopefully get back to agility. Keeping fingers crossed I’ll be able to run by then because Timber and I are both missing our favorite activity together!

Maybe then we can start reminding him how a broad jump works too 😅

How are you keeping cool during this heat wave? 🥵

My mom’s house doesn’t have any of our typical food enrichment items (lick mats, toppls, freezbones, treat spreads, etc) - but it doesn’t need to be complicated!

A small Tupperware container, bone broth, and Tucker’s Raw boost cubes and freeze dried raw made a nice cold hydrating treat! The boost cube adds extra nutrients, bone broth for hydration, and Timber loves trying to dig out the freeze dried pieces. I’ve also done this with blueberries or sweet potato chews frozen inside, anything I have on hand that gives a small extra challenge to get out of the ice

A very simple treat to keep him entertained while he’s begging me to go outside in 95+ degree weather but I don’t want him running around. I love seeing everybody’s beautiful toppl and enrichment creations, but this is much more realistic for us 😂

A little Koda health summary 💛

I realized I hadn’t posted much about this boy recently! He’s had a lot of incidental finding health issues this year 😅 he’s 8 years old now and has had way more vet appointments than he’s used to, but he’s been very brave!

He had a dental cleaning in December where they found and removed a luckily benign oral melanoma. Soon after that I noticed one of the lymph nodes in his neck was swollen, and it’s been swollen ever since 🙃 he was tested twice to see if it’s lymphoma and luckily both aspirates came back as negative for that, just showing reactive lymph tissue

He’s since had lots of labs done, a chest x-ray, and an abdominal ultrasound trying to figure out what’s causing this reactive lymph node - everything comes back without answers 🙃 he now has an internal medicine referral appointment in August at NC State to see if they have any guidance or ideas. I’m nervous how he’ll do at that appointment but he’s got extra meds to try and help us 💛

In the midst of all that, his vet happened to find an abnormal heart rhythm. So then he had to go to the cardiologist vet for an echo. Structurally it showed his heart was healthy which was great news, but he definitely had abnormalities in rhythm. So then he needed a 24 hour holter monitor 🤦🏼‍♀️ it showed a LOT of premature beats and I think one vet recently mentioned a type of heart block that the cardiologist didn’t mention so I need to email him 👀 the cardiologist wasn’t horribly worried about putting Koda on meds so now he just has 2 new heart supplements

Now he’s also had eye redness in one eye for a few weeks that didn’t respond to a course of medicated eye drops. He’s supposed to go see the eye vet specialist whenever I’m home and driving again 🤦🏼‍♀️

This is more of a little update for myself to remind me of everything 🙃 I need my boy healthy again and soon we’ll hopefully have some answers and he can go back to just one simple vet appointment a year. He’s been an incredibly brave boy through all these new, more involved appointments 💛 hoping for a healthy bub by the end of the year so everybody send him good thoughts!
