Day 8 Training Rita the Rescue Pony ❤️ Today we worked on Rita’s herdbound-ness while wogging down the road. She wasn’t a fan of leaving her new besties Sparkle & Howdy, but she finally walked calmly with me and then we turned around and walked very slowly back. Tacked up of course 😉

Today included saddling, bridling, and adding a tiny bit more pressure with the pool noodle. Still trying to get her to trust me and stay curious!

Day 5 Training Rita the Rescue Pony ❤️ yesterday we had torrential downpour all day (yes!!!!) so today was a little desensitization but keeping it low key because of the sloppy conditions. She aced everything! No problem with saddle or tarp. So tomorrow we will work on bit and bridle and from now on she will be saddled pretty much every time. I think she is starting to trust me more.

Day 3 was trail riding down the road with the homies 💕 she was so good and seemed to really like it! Four Corners Equine Rescue

Day 2 of training Rita the Rescue Pony. Today she was not too happy with me. We had the new hay delivered (that was a big deal), my hubby was running the chainsaw (that was a bigger deal), AND I took Rita away from her afternoon snack (that was the last straw 😆). It was not an ideal situation in Rita’s eyes. So I had to use some grain to catch her. Then I asked her to link up and my phone died but she did do it in the end pretty well. Poor girl is finding out that it’s not going to be perfect conditions every time. It was a little bit of a step back from yesterday but: Progress is not linear! Follow and like to watch her training program ❤️

Everyone say Hi! to Rita the Rescue Pony!! I partnered with Four Corners Equine Rescue and will be putting a solid start on this beautiful mare. She is already so gentle and pretty darn brave so I think she’ll enjoy having a job! Follow along to watch our journey together and all of her progress!!! Big Thank You to Katie and everyone at FCER that made this possible ❤️
