Your dog's coat is more than just fur -- it's a health indicator.

Itching, flaking, red patches, and dull coats can all signal underlying skin conditions that grooming plays a huge role in managing.

Here's what professional grooming does for skin health:
- Therapeutic baths remove allergens & buildup
- Early detection of hotspots, rashes & parasites
- Clipping reveals hidden irritated skin
- Conditioning treatments soothe dry, flaky coats

Summer heat makes skin conditions worse -- don't wait until it's painful for your pup.

We see it all at Robin's Groomingdales, and we know the difference between normal shedding and a coat that needs attention.

Your puppy's fluffiness won't last forever - and that's OK!

Between 6 and 12 months, most puppies go through a dramatic coat change. This transition means more shedding, more matting risk, and more brushing needs.

Here's what you need to know:
- Start professional grooming BEFORE the transition hits
- Daily brushing becomes essential during the change
- Mats can form overnight on double-coated breeds
- Regular baths help remove loose undercoat

The good news? A professional groomer can help you navigate this phase smoothly and set up good coat habits for life.

We're here for every stage of your pup's life, from first groom to golden years.

Choosing the right groomer for your dog is one of the most important decisions you'll make as a pet owner.

After 35+ years grooming dogs in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, our team has seen what separates a truly professional salon from one that cuts corners. Here is what to look for:

1. Ask about training and certifications -- look for IPG, NDGAA membership, or verifiable experience
2. Request a tour of the facility before booking -- any professional groomer should welcome this
3. Watch how staff interacts with dogs at drop-off -- calm handling matters
4. Ask about cage dryers and supervision policies -- unsupervised cage dryers are a real safety concern
5. Read reviews carefully -- look for consistent themes, not just the star rating

The right groomer becomes a trusted part of your dog's health care team.

Hot spot alert -- summer is here and so are skin flare-ups!

Dog hot spots (Acute Moist Dermatitis) can appear overnight and spread fast in Georgia's summer heat and humidity. The good news? Most hot spots are PREVENTABLE with the right grooming care.

5 prevention strategies for Dunwoody and Sandy Springs pet owners:
- Regular professional grooming (keeps coat dry and mat-free)
- Thorough drying after every swim or bath
- Year-round flea prevention (top trigger for hot spots)
- Brushing 2-3x per week between appointments
- Watch for early signs -- redness, moisture, excessive licking

Your dog doesn't go from appointment to appointment on autopilot.

What you do at home between visits makes a HUGE difference in your dog's coat, comfort, and health. Here's what Robin's Groomingdales recommends for every Dunwoody dog owner:

- How often to brush (by coat type)
- The right way to clean ears at home
- Paw and nail checks between trims
- Quick rinse vs full bath -- when to do each
- The 5-minute weekly check every owner should do

🐾 Mats aren't just an eyesore — they're painful for your dog.

Georgia's summer humidity makes matting worse, especially in doodles, spaniels, and long-haired breeds. Here's what every Dunwoody dog owner needs to know:

✅ Why mats form (and why humidity makes it worse)
✅ The right brushing tools for your dog's coat type
✅ How often to brush to stay ahead of tangles
✅ What NOT to do when you find a mat
✅ When to call a professional groomer
