Steamtown Veterinary Center is officially open, and as we continue to grow, we’re looking for veterinarians who want to be part of what we’re building in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

We’re a privately owned, 24/7 emergency and urgent care hospital in Dunmore, PA. The response from the community since opening our doors has been incredible, and we’re ready to continue expanding our veterinary team.

We’re interested in talking with veterinarians at all stages of their careers. Whether you have years of emergency experience, are a general practitioner looking for something different, or are a newer graduate interested in developing your emergency, surgical, and critical care skills, we’d love to talk.

Full time, part time, overnight, weekend, and relief opportunities are available.

We have a brand new facility, great equipment, a strong support team, and the opportunity to help shape a new hospital from the beginning.

We wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the incredible kindness, patience, and support you’ve shown our team since we opened our doors.

The response from the community has been overwhelming in the best possible way. We know there may be times when our phones are busy or our team is caring for multiple emergencies at once, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to give every patient the attention and care they need.

We also wanted to share an important contact for anyone who needs to send us medical records, lab results, radiographs, or other information for their pet.

This email is monitored by our staff and can be used by both pet owners and veterinary hospitals to send records directly to our team.

When records are sent from Steamtown Veterinary Center following your pet’s visit, they may also come from this email address, so please keep an eye out for messages from [email protected].

If your pet has an upcoming visit with us or you are on your way to the hospital, having previous medical records sent ahead of time whenever possible can be extremely helpful to our doctors and staff.

For emergencies or urgent medical concerns, please call us directly rather than relying on email so we can assist you as quickly as possible.

What an incredible first 24 hours!

We had an overwhelming response yesterday, and we truly cannot thank everyone enough for the support you showed us on our opening day.

To everyone who came through our doors and trusted us with the care of your pets, thank you! We were able to help over 60 animals in our first 24 hours, and we are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to be here for our community.

A huge thank you as well to everyone who stopped by with flowers, donations, snacks, food, and other gifts for our team. The support we received from friends, family, local businesses, fellow veterinary professionals, and members of the community meant more to us than we can say.

And to our entire Steamtown Veterinary Center team, thank you for everything you did to make our first day possible and for jumping right into an incredibly busy opening day!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

Steamtown Veterinary Center is officially OPEN!

Our doors opened at 7 AM this morning, and from here on out, we will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If your pet is sick, injured, or needs emergency or urgent veterinary care, our team is here and ready to help.

We are incredibly excited to finally be able to serve the pets and families of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and followed along throughout this entire journey. We truly could not have done it without you.

WE’RE OFFICIALLY OPEN TOMORROW!!!!

After a very long road, Steamtown Veterinary Center will officially open our doors tomorrow!!!

Beginning tomorrow, 08/22/2026, we’ll be here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For anyone who is new to our page, Steamtown Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital created to provide Northeastern Pennsylvania with emergency veterinary care when your pet is sick, injured, or needs immediate care.

We are not here to replace your regular veterinarian. We’re here to work alongside the amazing general practices in our community by providing emergency and urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, diagnostics, and continued care when your regular veterinarian may not be available.

Our hospital is equipped for:
• Emergency and urgent veterinary care
• 24 hour hospitalization and monitoring
• Emergency and urgent surgery
• Soft tissue surgery
• Dentistry, dental radiographs, and oral surgery
• Digital X-rays
• Ultrasound
• In house laboratory testing
• Oxygen support and critical care
• And more

For now, we will primarily be seeing dogs and cats. We may have veterinarians working who have a special interest or experience in exotic animal medicine. When those doctors are scheduled, we’ll let everyone know that exotic appointments or emergencies may be available during those specific shifts.

At this time, we do not have any exotic focused shifts scheduled, so for now, please consider us a dogs and cats only hospital unless we announce otherwise.

Starting tomorrow, if your pet needs us, we’re here, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thank you so much for the incredible response today! We can’t thank everyone enough for the support. We had five people answering the phones from noon until 7 PM and still had a hard time keeping up!

We believe we returned all of our voicemails and missed calls, but if you reached out today and didn’t hear back from us, please give us another call tomorrow. We’ll have receptionists answering the phones from 8 AM until 12 PM and will be happy to get you and your pets into our system.

Thank you again for all of the calls, messages, kind words, and support as we get closer to opening. It really means a lot to all of us, and we can’t wait to be here for the community!

Our phones are officially up and running!

While Steamtown Veterinary Center isn’t open just yet, we’ll be in the office until 7 PM tonight and would love to start getting you and your pets into our system.

Give us a call and we can get your basic information set up ahead of time. That way, once we’re open, if you ever need us for an emergency or urgent visit, you’re already in our system and there’s one less thing to worry about.

Steamtown Veterinary Center is not a general practice, and we are not here to replace your primary care veterinarian. We are an emergency and urgent care hospital here to work alongside the great veterinary practices in our community when your pet needs more immediate care.

Steamtown Veterinary Center is accepting donations of gently used towels and blankets!

If you have clean, gently used bath towels and blankets that you no longer need, we’d be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating them to our hospital.

These donations are used every day to help keep our patients warm, comfortable, and clean during their stay with us. Whether a pet is recovering from surgery, receiving emergency treatment, or simply needing a cozy place to rest, towels and blankets make a tremendous difference in their comfort and care.

You can drop off donations this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Once we officially open, donations can be dropped off anytime during our regular business hours.

We know many of you have been asking about our opening date. We don’t have an official opening day to announce just yet, but we’re getting closer every day. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience, encouragement, and support as we put the finishing touches on the hospital.

Thank you for helping us care for the pets in our community. Your generosity means so much to us, and we can’t wait to welcome you and your pets through our doors soon.

To Our Steamtown Veterinary Center Community,

We wanted to provide an update on our opening.

Unfortunately, due to construction delays, we will not be opening as soon as we had originally anticipated. While this is disappointing for our team, we are committed to ensuring that every aspect of the hospital is completed properly before we welcome our first patients.

Over the past several weeks, our staff has been hard at work completing training, learning our hospital systems, and preparing to provide the highest level of emergency and urgent veterinary care. We are incredibly excited to begin serving our community, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these final stages of construction.

We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting our opening, and we sincerely apologize for the delay. We will continue to keep everyone updated and will announce our official opening date as soon as we are able.

Steamtown Veterinary Center Update!

We know it’s been a little while since our last update, and we wanted to let everyone know that construction is continuing to move forward and we are now aiming for an August 1, 2026 opening!
(Pending our occupancy permit!)

We are incredibly excited to bring 24/7 emergency, urgent care, surgery, dentistry, and hospitalization services to pets and families throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

There have been plenty of challenges and delays along the way, but seeing everything finally come together has us more excited than ever. We cannot thank our future clients, local veterinary community, friends, family, and supporters enough for their patience and encouragement throughout this journey.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more photos as well as some behind the scenes updates. We will also be posting some staff introductions and information about the services we’ll be offering.
