To the ball throwers, the leash holders, the “let’s go for a ride” whisperers.
To the ones who lift them for couch cuddles, wind them up for zoomies, and sneak them one more treat when no one’s looking.
To the ones who lift them into the trucks, brave muddy walks, and for the ones who cry quietly because they miss their best friend.

To the dog dads of one or a pack, the fosters, the trainers, the softies with big hearts.

Today is National Rescue Dog Day! It’s a great day to showcase a special rescue pup in need of a loving home!!
🌟 This is Moe 🌟 He was named after the Three Stooges at a shelter in Texas with his 2 brothers. He’s about 6 months old and weighs 40 pounds and is predicted to be about 65 pounds full grown. He is kinda mellow compared to his brothers but is definitely a puppy still and likes to play! He’s gentle and has been fine around children. He will need ongoing training and socialization like all young dogs but is overall a great loving pup.

Please share to help find him his perfect home! And please reach out if interested in fostering or adopting. He is neutered and will be fully vaccinated, including for Lyme and Leptospirosis.

Sneak Peak! These three precious lab puppies will be making the trip from San Antonio, TX to Two Harbors this weekend!
They were rescued from a very busy shelter 30 minutes before they were set to be euthanized to make space for new dogs coming in. We just couldn’t let that happen and no one local was able to take them.

Vet North will ensure they are fully vetted then they will be up for adoption! Stay tuned for updates on their personalities as they relax after the long journey North!

April is National Heartworm Awareness Month

Heartworm disease is a preventable illness that is spread by mosquitos. While our risk in the North is lower than in other areas, it is not zero.
You can see from the map below that there are cases in our area. The best thing you can do is monthly prevention chews in the warmer months when mosquitoes may be out. Some people give it year-round due to the additional benefit the medication has for deworming. It is important to have a heartworm test done prior to starting the medication.

The most popular brands are Heartgard and Interceptor.
