Our donor supported work helps keep dogs and cats healthy, families together, animals out of shelters, and prevents suffering before it starts. Planned PEThood of Georgia is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare nonprofit celebrating 15 years of lifesaving impact. Based in Duluth, Georgia, we rely on the generosity of donors to provide a range of vital services and programs that support pets and their famili

es. Our offerings include affordable veterinary care, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, and vaccinations, as well as community outreach, feral cat programs, humane education, and rescue/foster/adoption efforts.

⏺️ Our Wellness Clinic in Gwinnett County provides low-cost routine veterinary care, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and treatment for minor health issues. By making these services accessible, we help pets live healthier lives and keep families together.
⏺️ Outreach Events bring essential resources to communities where access to veterinary care is limited or unavailable. These events often include free vaccinations, microchipping, and pet food and supplies - removing barriers and meeting families where they are.
⏺️ Our Community Cats program helps Georgia residents care for both friendly strays and unsocialized feral cats. Through humane trap-neuter-return (TNR) services and support for colony caretakers, we reduce overpopulation and improve the lives of outdoor and feral cats. Our Working Cat (Barn Cat) program gives unsocialized felines a safe home and a purpose as natural pest control.
⏺️ Humane Education and Youth Programs empower current and future pet owners to become responsible caretakers through educational clubs, special events, and online resources.
⏺️ Our Foster & Adoption Services give vulnerable cats and kittens a second chance by placing them in loving foster homes until they are ready to find permanent families. Mission Statement: Helping pets and their families by providing innovative programs and affordable services that save lives.

🚐🐾 Veterinary Care on the Move. Impact Across Georgia!

Thursday was a great example of how to make veterinary care more accessible for pets and the people who love them. Our team was proud to be working with the Hall County Animal Shelter in multiple ways:

📍 The FIDO Mobile Veterinary Clinic was on-site in Hall County, providing affordable veterinary services for owned pets in the community.

🐶🐱 Shelter pets were receiving spay/neuter surgeries at our Duluth clinic, helping prepare them for healthy futures and loving homes.

👩‍⚕️ Dr. Morris was also at the Hall County shelter performing TNVR spay/neuter surgeries and providing other veterinary services on-site, expanding the number of animals we can help in a single day.

When organizations work together, more pets receive the care they need, families gain access to essential veterinary services, and shelters can save more lives.

These partnerships are how we continue breaking down barriers to veterinary care throughout Georgia, one pet, one family, and one community at a time.

Thank you to Hall County Animal Services and Fido Fixers for helping us create healthier communities for pets and people alike.

Big, Small, Smol 🐾

Some things just naturally go in order...

Beth Rummel, one of our long-time foster volunteers, recently snapped this adorable photo featuring Pogo (a Planned PEThood alum) alongside her current foster kittens, Diana and Henry.

Pogo seems to be taking his role as the "grown-up supervisor" very seriously while Diana and Henry continue their mission of getting bigger one nap, snack, and zoomie at a time.

We can't decide what's cuter—the size difference or the fact that Pogo was once the tiny kitten in someone else's photo.

❤️ Thank you, Beth, and all of our amazing fosters, for opening your home and heart to so many cats over the years. And thank you, Pogo, for showing the youngsters how it's done.

✨ Merlin Has Cast a Spell on the Internet! ✨

When we introduced little Merlin in early May, we knew he was adorable.

What we didn't know was that he was about to become the most popular kitten in Planned PEThood history. 🐾💙

Since sharing his magical photo shoot, Merlin has become our most-liked, most-commented-on, and most-shared kitten across all of our social media platforms. Thousands of animal lovers have fallen under his spell, and honestly, we can't blame them. 🪄✨

Between his tiny wizard hat, his sweet face, and the incredible photos captured by his foster mom, Dr. Macie, Merlin has brought smiles to people all over Georgia and beyond.

The best part? Behind every cute photo is a real kitten who was given a chance because of foster care, veterinary care, and supporters like you. Merlin's story is a reminder of how much joy rescue animals bring into our lives.

Merlin is still growing, playing, and mastering the art of kitten magic in foster care, but he will be available for adoption soon. Stay tuned for updates on this little celebrity—you won't want to miss them!

Have you joined Merlin's fan club yet? Tell us what you love most about this magical little guy in the comments. ⬇️🐾✨

🇺🇸 53 pets. 42 military families. $0 in veterinary costs.

Throughout the month of May, Planned PEThood was proud to honor Military Appreciation Month by providing free veterinary care to the pets of active-duty military members, veterans, and retired military families in Gwinnett County.

Now that the program has wrapped up, we're excited to share the impact made possible through the generous support of the Sunstate Foundation:

🐾 53 pets received free veterinary care including Mochi (pictured), Toast, Panther, Diego and so many more!
❤️ 42 military pet owners were served.

For many families, rising veterinary costs can make it difficult to access even basic preventive care. This month-long initiative helped ensure that military families could provide their pets with the care they deserve at no cost.

We're grateful to the military families who participated, the pets who visited us, and the Sunstate Foundation for making this special program possible. Together, we helped keep pets healthy, families together, and veterinary care accessible for those who have given so much in service to our communities and our country. 🇺🇸🐶🐱

🐾✨ From TNR Candidate to King of the Castle! ✨🐾

One-year-old Carter and his adorable bobtail have officially found his forever home! ❤️

Carter's journey started when he was trapped as part of a possible TNR effort, but it didn't take long for him to show everyone just how sweet, friendly, and lovable he truly is. Instead of returning to outdoor life, Carter joined our adoption program, and we're so glad he did!

His new mom first met him during one of our kitten parties at WEG, one of our amazing corporate sponsors. She had been hoping to adopt a kitty, and Carter knew exactly what to do. With a little charm, a lot of personality, and that irresistible bobtail, he completely stole her heart. 🥰

Now Carter is settling into a home filled with fun toys, cozy spots, and all the kitty supplies he could ever want. We couldn't be happier for this special boy and his new family!

Happy tails, Carter! 🎉🐱💙

🐾 Does your pet need expensive veterinary treatment but you're not sure how you'll afford it?

We hear from pet owners regularly who are facing a difficult reality - their pet needs significant medical care, like cancer treatment or heartworm treatment, and the cost feels impossible. You are not alone - and there is help available before you reach a crisis point.

We have compiled a list of 15 local and national resources that may be able to help cover the cost of major veterinary treatments for pet owners in need. This is not about overdue bills — these resources are designed to help you get your pet the care they need right now.

Save this post, share it with someone whose pet is facing a serious diagnosis, or send it to a friend who has been told their pet needs expensive treatment and doesn't know where to turn.

💡 Quick tip: In most cases, you'll need a quote or estimate from your vet before applying for financial assistance — so start there first.

Pets are family. Every family deserves a fighting chance. 🐾

👇 Know someone facing an unexpected vet expense? Tag them or share this post — it could make all the difference.
