NY Grouse and woodcock season is upon us! I've had early-mid October dates open up due to a couple events being canceled. I guide in Central and Northern NY. Message or call (6oh7-793-4832) for more information.
Preseason scouting to get the dogs ready is showing normal Grouse numbers, while woodcock are present in some coverts but scarce in others (migration will help that).
Banner year for grouse foods.

Winter bird dog camp 2026 in Rose Hill NC - management tasks and miscellaneous photos. Prescribed fire to improve quail habitat, "beaver deceiver" installation to protect road culverts from washout due to damming by beavers, while keeping beavers in the system. Beavers create great habitat for wood ducks and many other wetland dependent species.

More winter bird dog camp 2026 in Rose Hill NC - photos from the field trial we hosted end of February. We had 52 entries for the trial held at H3 Farms February 27-March 1. Joe Edwards developed a wonderful training and trial grounds over several decades while he was developing his famous line of Come Back red setters. Big thanks to new owner Steve Howard for supporting the trial, and to him and his family for preparing a fantastic NC barbecue for lunch!
