Did you know there are several different things that you can do for enrichment using pumpkins!

Take a small sugar pumpkin or pie pumpkin, slice off the stem cap, and scoop out the pulp and seeds (save these to roast unseasoned). Fill the cavity with a mix of plain canned pumpkin puree, plain Greek yogurt, and kibble or high-value treats.

You can also cut a few small, dogsafe holes (1–2 inches) around the body of a hollowed-out pumpkin. Drop kibble, dried liver bits, or small crunchy treats inside.

Or you can carve a small-to-medium pumpkin horizontally into two bowl halves. Clean out the interior, then spread plain pumpkin puree mixed with bone broth or peanut butter. Then freeze!

For dogs that love to tear things apart, place a whole, uncarved small raw pumpkin outdoors on a grassy lawn or non-slip surface. Coat the exterior skin with a tiny smear of dog-safe peanut butter or goat milk to initiate interest. Biting, puncturing, and tearing apart the tough outer rind provides an appropriate outlet for preydrive shredding behavior while keeping the rind safely digestible in small quantities.

It's also good for your dog!
Packed with beta-carotene (which converts to Vitamin A), as well as Vitamin C and Vitamin E, pumpkin supports retinal health, cell repair, and immune function.

Pumpkin is rich in soluble fiber, which absorbs excess water to firm up loose stool while simultaneously adding bulk and moisture to relieve mild constipation.

The natural fermentable fibers feed beneficial gut flora (lactobacilli and bifidobacteria), promoting a balanced microbiome and improving overall nutrient absorption.

When you are hiking with dogs it is important to teach them how to keep a good eye on you. One thing I try to instill in the training jobs I have is that they need to watch out for me otherwise I might run away and be hard to catch. After a few reps of this dogs start keeping a close eye.

If you could only learn three things to help with leash walking it would be to teach your dog to come back to you when they feel the collar. To teach your dog how to come into the heel position on command. And to focus on you on command.
When we combine these three skill it makes leash walking easy
