I just wanted to make a post about the amazing dentists we use and have used in the past!

When I lived in the PNW L7 Equine Dentistry LLC is the best in the business. He lives in Utah, but I met him at a show in Nampa Idaho. Trust me, worth the drive.

For my Arizona peeps (and she travels to Texas and Oklahoma too!!) Think Forward Equine Services is my hands down go to. She cares about the well being of the horses as any GREAT dentist does and we are thankful to have her in our corner!

Since we’ve moved to Louisiana, Fontenot is the only one I trust to take care of my horses mouths. Ike does performance horses himself and he is damn good at what he does.

I am so thankful for all the great people we get to work with with our horses. My “team” is growing and I’m so very thankful for each person who plays a roll in the health of our herd!

Friendly reminder from your local repro addict:

Before you start that 2-year-old, get those teeth checked.

Wolf teeth, retained caps, sharp points, and other dental issues can make a young horse uncomfortable long before they know how to tell you something hurts. The last thing we want is a colt’s first experience with a bit to be painful because of something that could have been fixed beforehand.

Setting them up for success starts long before the first ride. A little preventative care now can save a lot of frustration, confusion, and training issues later.

Give them the best possible start from day one. Your horse, your trainer, and your future self will thank you.

We have officially entered the stage of breeding season where science, timing, and experience have all done their part… and now we’re accepting prayers, Hail Marys, voodoo dolls, interpretive dances, offerings to the breeding gods, and the occasional sacrifice into a volcano pit.

This mare has been ultrasounded, medicated, flushed, cultured, timed to perfection, and bred with semen that should’ve gotten a fence post pregnant.

At this point, we’re operating on faith and caffeine-free delusion.

If you’ve been in the breeding industry long enough, you know exactly which mare I’m talking about… even if she’s standing in someone else’s pasture. 🤦‍♀️🐴

Breeding season is basically horse people playing the world’s most expensive game of “pick two.” 🤣

“I want great bloodlines, perfect conformation, an amazing mind, AND I want her to settle on the first shipment.”

Ma’am… the mare did not read the memo.

Drop your two picks below. 👇

I wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to AGMHorsemanship for doing such an amazing job with our recip mare, Peach. Peach came with some baggage and the reality is I didn’t have time to help her through it with breeding season as busy as it has been.

Abbie was able to help Peach with her being head shy as well as getting her much more safe to do her feet. This mare went from kicking at you, to standing quietly for the farrier, in TWO WEEKS.

Very very pleased with Abbie and if anyone needs a horse tuned up on groundwork, be sure to get ahold of Abbie!

This season has been an absolute whirlwind, and first off, THANK YOU to everyone who has trusted me with your mares this year. We are temporarily closed due to strangles, but there is still a little time left in the season to get your mare bred once we reopen and get everyone healthy and safe again.

Also… I finally got some “Mare Maker” shirts made and I’m OBSESSED. 😂 Shirts are $30 each and right now I currently have limited quantities in L and XL available. If there’s enough interest, I will absolutely be happy to place another T-shirt order! Sweatshirts?? Hats?? Either way!

Please note, if you ever call and do NOT get a call back, please don’t hesitate to text or call again. Today I reset my phone and found voicemails from over a month ago that I never even received. I sincerely apologize to anyone affected by that.

Truthfully, I’m a one woman band over here and currently do not have enough clones of myself to get everything done as fast as I want to sometimes. 😂 Between mare management, ultrasounds, shipments, paperwork, phone calls, and life in general, things can get a little chaotic during breeding season.

There are several ways to reach me: phone call, text, or Facebook Messenger. If one method doesn’t work, try another because breeding season around here gets a little wild sometimes. 😂

I have been seeing a lot of comments thanking us for being transparent about the strangles situation at our property.

And honestly? I think it’s sad that transparency has become something people are surprised by.

This industry has enough problems without people hiding things out of fear of judgment, embarrassment, or backlash. Horses deserve better than that. Clients deserve better than that.

We made the decision to be upfront immediately because protecting other horses, other barns, and the people who trust us matters more than pretending everything is perfect online. Biosecurity matters. Accountability matters. Integrity matters.

No farm is immune to illness. No horse person is immune to hard situations. What matters is how you handle it when it happens.

We will always choose honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Well folks, we’ve hit a snag! A pretty big one at that.

A resident mare here has come down with strangles. She has lived here for the past year and shown no signs of illness prior to this situation.

For the next 2 weeks, we will NOT take ANY outside horses to stay here for any breeding. We will accept haul ins to a very specific area of the property and our stocks will be sanitized between each horse that enters the stocks.

Once we wrap the season up for the year, we will be taking extra precautions so this does not happen again next year.

I want to thank everyone so far that has trusted DCQH with their mares. Y’all make my passion stronger every day and I’m very thankful!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or text Jenn at 541-417-0253.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but we must do what we can to keep everyone’s stock safe!!

Some mornings just remind me why I love this life so much. The early sun, quiet pastures, and another day doing what I’m passionate about with some incredible horses and clients. Breeding season may be busy, but I wouldn’t trade these moments for anything.

So thankful for everyone trusting Dry Creek Quarter Horses & Reproduction with their mares and dreams this season. 🌅🐴
