Meet Clark.
Clark thinks paper towel rolls are worth a lot!
He’s willing to growl to keep it, he’s willing to bite to keep it.
This session I’m working with a mini educator E collar on the vibration.
You can see at the beginning of the video, it takes him three No’s with vibration to drop the paper towel roll.
I want to teach him that is the correct reaction when he hears me say NO, so I do reward him for dropping it.

After that, he drops it with one NO and further in he leaves it alone with just the NO marker and no E collar communication.

➡️ Did his attitude drop a little bit, yes.
➡️ Do I care that it did today? No.
➡️ Will his attitude come back up with consistency and learning the rules that he can’t bite people over things? Yes.

you may be surprised that I’ve worked with multiple golden retrievers that guard things. They are also the malleus breed I’ve ever worked with. All of the cute pictures you see with them carrying their leash carrying a stick carrying in the groceries, they are prone to want things in their mouth and they can also be prone to not want to give them up.

this is not something to mess with yourself, definitely contact someone for help.

✨ “Yes” = You got it! Reward is coming.✨ “Good” = Keep doing what you’re doing.✨ Your engagement markers = “Pay attention to me!”

Using clear markers builds:🐶 Word recognition (yes)⏳ Builds duration (good)🧠 Better communication❤️ A puppy that actually understands what you’re asking.

Small changes in your timing create HUGE changes in your puppy’s training.Save this for your next training session! 🐾

🔵 I use the “yes” to get reps in when teaching what the word means. In this video, sit and place.

🔵 I use the “good” marker to build duration in these positions. (Think if it as building a “stay”)

Bella, Ray and Gus are new this week.

today was just a little test day to see what they were willing to do and how they perform during a training session.

Bella and Ray are siblings and this is why it’s so important to put in the work to do things separate when you have siblings. And not just when they’re little but ongoing. They really don’t like to do anything without each other, and it’s hard for them to focus.
