Mr. Lynx looking handsome as usual!

Lynx is feeling great under saddle, and is such a pleasure to be around. He is a smart guy and is picking things back up again fairly quick!

Miss Pretty is looking pretty!!

We’ve been working on raising the base of her neck and getting some weight off her front end. Playing with some French Classical flexions and counterbends have been very helpful.

By shifting more weight to her hindend, her trot transitions and quality has improved dramatically! Before she would have to “hop” into the trot, now she can push from behind and maintain a more consistent cadence.

Excited to see what other improvements she’ll make in a few weeks time, go Miss Pretty!

Dukes got the right idea! I think we’re all ready for fall, or at least weather in the mid 80’s 😅

Annie and Petey putting in the work this morning with their first trot together! And would you believe this is only Annie’s second time trotting since riding as a kid🤩?

Annie has put exceptional work in her horsemanship, balance, and feel both on the ground and under saddle these past few months. It has definitely paid off, and I am excited to see her progress in her horsemanship journey! Go Annie!

Congrats to Kerry/Winchester and Amber/Rosie on two fantastic WDAA Tests for the LOPE Benefit Virtual Show (and two blue ribbons, as the cherry on top)!

This was Kerry and Winnie’s first ever horse show, and with only a handful of Western Dressage practice. They nailed their transitions, geometry, and had a blast while doing it! So excited to see what these two have in store.

Amber and Rosie laid down another really solid WDAA Intro 2 test. They have been making improvements each test— on regulating speed and building softness into each ride. Their hard work has really paid off, and Amber has become quite the Western Dressage rider.

Congrats to you both! I am thrilled to have the privilege of working with two kind and dedicated equestrians 😁

SOLD

Cali is a 16H, grade bay mare, estimated to be 18 years old. She is kind hearted, good minded, and well educated. Not much seems to phase her— she’s good with time off, good in the herd, and has excellent ground manners. She loves to be groomed and pampered on, and is looking for her next partner to enjoy her golden years with!

Cali has been in training for almost a year, and she has been successfully leased out by an adult amateur for the last four months. In her previous home she was a beginner lesson horse, and has done some local ranch horse shows.

Due to her age and arthritic changes, Cali is looking for a LIGHT RIDING HOME (walk/trot only). She has some maintenance needs to keep her suitable for walk/trot work, will disclose all information with serious buyers.

Her owner is parting ways with Cali at no fault of own, merely due to changes in life circumstances.

Cali would make an excellent husband horse for the “non-horsey husband”, or a first horse for a kid/teen. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own this safe, sane, and beautiful mare!

Reminiscing on the late, great Dolly Parton. Not only was she a phenomenal singer, philanthropist, and role model — but she had some great advice that especially pertains to horsemanship!

It’s not always “sunshine and rainbows” working with horses. There will be hard days, lots of them. Horsemanship is a journey, and not a particularly easy one.

But those struggles will make those days when things all line out feel fantastic! And, it will make you and your horse better for it.

Cheers to Dolly, good horses, and sticking to it!

Early morning ride with Mr. Duke!

We have been working on our upwards transitions and keeping forward momentum while doing so. We have just begun working halt to lope, and I’ve found backing a small 1/4 circle helps set him up for success in the transition.

His head shakers has been acting up a bit with this dust and dry weather, so we’re doing what we can while keeping him comfortable.

Duke is such a pleasure to ride, and I am grateful to get to work with great horses like him!

I’ve missed this view, Wilbur is officially back to riding!!

Wilbur has been rehabbing from some suspensory injuries and from a related minor surgery. He has been a phenomenal patient, and we are both excited to get back to work! We still have a long way to go, but we’re on the right track.
