Grass awns, stickers, foxtails, and other plant materials can become lodged in your pet's:

👁️ Eyes

After outdoor adventures:
✅ Check paws and between toes
✅ Look inside ears
✅ Brush your pet thoroughly
✅ Watch for excessive licking, sneezing, or head shaking

Just like us, pets need extra water during the hot summer months.

Ways to help keep your pet hydrated:
✔️ Provide fresh water daily
✔️ Bring water on walks and outings
✔️ Add extra water to meals if recommended
✔️ Offer multiple water stations around the house

Signs of dehydration can include:
⚠️ Dry gums
⚠️ Lethargy
⚠️ Sunken eyes
⚠️ Loss of appetite

🌡️🐾 Know the Signs of Heatstroke

Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen faster than many pet owners realize.

Watch for:
❗ Heavy panting
❗ Excessive drooling
❗ Weakness or lethargy
❗ Vomiting or diarrhea
❗ Bright red or pale gums
❗ Collapse

If you suspect heatstroke:
✅ Move your pet to a cool area
✅ Offer small amounts of water
✅ Apply cool (not ice-cold) water to their body
✅ Seek veterinary care immediately

Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise dangerously fast.

A quick stop can turn into a life-threatening situation for your pet in a matter of minutes.

Signs of heat distress include:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Weakness
🐾 Vomiting

When temperatures rise, the safest place for your pet is at home in the cool air conditioning.

If your pet can't go inside with you, it's best to leave them at home.♥

🐾 Think Twice Before That Walk! 🐾

Did you know pavement can become hot enough to burn your pet's paws in just minutes?

On a sunny day, asphalt and concrete can reach temperatures much hotter than the air around you. If you can't comfortably hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws!

✅ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
✅ Stick to grassy areas when possible
✅ Watch for signs of paw discomfort

Protect those precious paws this summer! 🐶❤️

We are excited to share some wonderful news with our clients! 💗

Dr. Bass will be returning from maternity leave starting today and will be seeing patients part-time, two days a week. We’re so happy to have her back in the clinic and caring for your pets again.

If you would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Bass, please call ahead so we can get you on her schedule—spots will be limited during her part-time return.

She is expected to return to a full-time schedule in August.
