🐾👅 New in the shop: LickiMats! 👅🐾

We use them here at Four Paws Only every day, and now you can bring the calm home!

Why dogs love them (and why you will too):

💚 Calms and soothes. Licking is naturally relaxing for dogs and helps ease stress and anxiety.
🧠 Mental enrichment. A few minutes of licking gives their brain a workout, which can tire them out just like a walk.
🐢 Slows down fast eaters. Spread their wet food or a topping on the mat to turn mealtime into a slow, mindful treat.
⛈️ Helps with stressful moments. Perfect for thunderstorms, fireworks, vet visits, or when you're heading out the door.
🛁 Makes at-home care easier. Stick one on the tub wall during baths or use it while brushing or trimming nails.
😴 Beats boredom. Great for crate time, rainy days, or keeping pups busy while you work.

Easy fillers to try: plain yogurt or kefir, pumpkin purée, wet food, mashed banana, or a little xylitol-free peanut butter. Pop it in the freezer for a longer-lasting treat! ❄️

Grab one at your next visit and ask us for our favorite filling ideas! 💚

I have something really special to share with you all 🐾📖

I wrote a children’s book.

“The Adventures of Fern and Fielding: The Day We Met” is the story of how two very special puppies found their way to their girl, Tallulah. It’s about love, surprises, and that unforgettable day when a family grows by four paws (well… eight!).

This book means more to me than I can put into words. Dogs have always been at the heart of my life and my work. Every day at the salon I see the bond between people and their pups, and I wanted to capture a little of that magic for kids to read and treasure.

I didn’t do it alone. My co-author, Tallulah and her spirit is on every page. The beautiful photography is by the talented Kate Preftakes. And to the friends who were part of the puppy-surprise day and the whole journey to bringing Fern and Fielding home: this story is as much yours as it is mine. 💛

If you’d like a copy for your little ones, your grandkids, or the dog lover in your life, you can find it here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HM55GTNG

And if it’s not for you, please don’t feel any pressure! A share would mean the world to me and help Fern and Fielding find their way to more families.

Thank you for supporting me, my salon, and my pups through all of it. This is only book one, and there are many more adventures ahead. 🐶🐶

🐃 Treat of the Week: Water Buffalo Cheek Rolls! 🐃

Looking for a long-lasting chew without the worries of traditional rawhide? Meet your pup's new favorite!

These Water Buffalo Cheek Rolls are 100% natural, with no artificial additives or preservatives, just one simple ingredient. They're also much easier to digest than rawhide, so you can feel good about what your dog is chewing on.

And they're TOUGH. 💪 These rolls are firm and crispy, made to stand up to even the most dedicated power chewers. No puffing up, no greasy mess on your floors, no crumbly bits everywhere. Just a solid, satisfying chew that keeps tails wagging and pups busy for hours. (Perfect for those days you need a little peace and quiet! 😉)

🦴 100% natural
🦴 Easily digestible rawhide alternative
🦴 Great for heavy chewers
🦴 Mess-free: no grease, no crumbs

As with any chew, we recommend supervising your pup while they enjoy it and choosing a size that's right for them.

Stop by the salon to grab one for your best buddy, or ask us to add one to your next grooming visit! 🐾

Does your dog love a good long chew? Tell us in the comments! 👇

🐾 COMING TO FOUR PAWS: A LITTLE MORE ZEN WITH YOUR GROOM! 🐾

A great grooming experience isn’t just about how your dog looks when they leave — it’s also about how they feel while they’re here. ❤️

We’re excited to begin introducing enrichment add-ons to our grooming services, designed to make your dog’s visit more positive, engaging, and enjoyable.

And we’re starting simple… with something dogs happen to be VERY good at:

👅 LICK MATS!

For a $10 add-on, your dog can enjoy a specially prepared lick mat during an appropriate part of their grooming visit.

🐶 Why a lick mat?

Licking is a natural behavior for dogs, and giving them an appropriate outlet for it can provide mental stimulation and encourage calm, focused behavior.

For some dogs, grooming involves a lot to process — new smells, sounds, equipment, handling, waiting, and all the other activity happening around the salon.

A lick mat gives them something positive to focus on and can turn a little downtime into an enrichment opportunity.

✨ It may be especially helpful for dogs who:

• Get a little nervous or restless during grooming visits
• Have trouble settling between portions of their groom
• Benefit from having something positive to focus on
• LOVE food and think snacks make everything better 😂
• Simply deserve a little extra spoiling during their spa day!

🧡 More Than Just a Treat

Our goal is to continue finding ways to make grooming more dog-centered.

Every dog is different.

Some dogs march through the door like they own the place. Some need a little extra reassurance. Some would happily sell their family for a spoonful of something delicious. 😂

We want to meet dogs where they are and make their time with us as comfortable and positive as we reasonably can.

The lick mat is just the first of several enrichment options we hope to introduce at Four Paws!

We’ll be exploring additional ways to incorporate enrichment, decompression, positive engagement, and FUN into the grooming experience — because grooming doesn’t have to be something a dog simply tolerates.

We want to help make it an experience they can feel good about. 🐾❤️

👅 LICK MAT ENRICHMENT ADD-ON — $10

Just let us know when booking or at drop-off if you’d like to add one to your dog’s spa day!

Lick mat ingredients and use can be adjusted or omitted when appropriate based on allergies, dietary restrictions, medical considerations, or the individual dog’s needs and comfort.

🐾 Four Paws — grooming with a little extra thought for the dog on the other end of the leash. ❤️

The Wavy Puzzler is a single-source protein chew is made from beef collagen. It is easily digestible and 84% protein. Collagen can promote healthy skin and coat. It provides amino acids which can contribute to healthy muscles and bones. It is a healthy snack that helps reduce boredom and offers mental stimulation/enrichment for our pups.

The unique shape adds an extra challenge, taking them a bit longer to figure out where to start chewing. Once they do the puzzler lasts longer than your typical bully stick and collagen chews.
Home Range suppliers follow strict regulations to abide by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The protein they source for each and every treat is 100% free from hormones and steroids. Their treats are also processed without the use of added artificial flavors, dyes and preservatives!

The Wavy Puzzler is available in our lobby at Four Paws Only!

The love, the loyalty, the companionship…
To my Fern and Fielding..

Thank you for being the kind of dogs that remind me every day why I fell in love with dogs in the first place.

Thank you for the quiet companionship, the unconditional love, the laughter, the muddy paws, the endless fur, and for simply always being there.

Thank you, Fern & Fielding, for making our family a little warmer, our days a little happier, and my life a whole lot better.

There really is no love quite like the love of a good dog. 🐾
