We are proud to provide comprehensive abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms for dogs and cats to pet parents and clinics nationwide. We are based out of Illinois with outpatient imaging centers located in Downers Grove and Chicago (River North). We are able to provide mobile services to the greater Chicagoland area, in addition to nationwide travel services.

❤️ What can an echocardiogram tell us about chronic valve disease?

In dogs with chronic degenerative valve disease, echocardiography can reveal the structural and functional changes that develop over time.

🔎 Key findings may include:
• Thickened, irregular valve leaflets
• Valve regurgitation on Doppler imaging
• Atrial or ventricular enlargement
• Ventricular wall thickening/thinning

Together, these findings help assess the severity and chronicity of disease, evaluate cardiac remodeling, and provide valuable information for ongoing monitoring and treatment.

An echocardiogram gives us more than just a look at the valves, helping us understand how the heart is responding to disease. 🫀

🔎 When the intestines tell a bigger story...

Gastrointestinal lymphoma is one of the most common forms of lymphoma in cats—and ultrasound can play an important role in identifying concerning changes.

On ultrasound, GI lymphoma may appear as focal or diffuse intestinal wall thickening, often with disruption or loss of the normal layered appearance. Changes may also involve the mesenteric lymph nodes and surrounding abdominal organs.

📸 Ultrasound finding: Intestinal wall thickening with changes highly suspicious for gastrointestinal lymphoma.

While ultrasound can help identify and characterize these abnormalities, definitive diagnosis typically requires cytology or biopsy.

Early imaging and investigation can help guide the next diagnostic and treatment steps for our feline patients. 🐱💙

BIG adrenal glands or tiny adrenal glands? 🔎🐾

Cushing’s and Addison’s are opposite adrenal disorders — and ultrasound can sometimes provide an important clue.

🟠 **Hyperadrenocorticism aka Cushing’s disease**
→ Adrenal glands are often enlarged, particularly with pituitary-dependent disease. An adrenal tumor may cause unilateral enlargement.

🔵 **Hypoadrenocorticism aka Addison’s disease**
→ Adrenal glands are often small and thin, frequently involving both glands.

But remember: ultrasound alone cannot diagnose either condition. Adrenal appearance should be interpreted alongside clinical signs, bloodwork, and endocrine testing.

Did you know you can text our phone number? Whether it's a quick question about your appointment or requesting images/reports to be sent to another specialist, we are here to help! We also love follow ups on patients we have seen, such as photos of puppies or kittens after we've done their pregnancy ultrasound, or to tell us what your dog/cat had removed from its stomach after foreign body surgery! We do ask that pet parents call us to schedule appointments, to ensure we gather all the information needed, as well as keep you informed on everything that will happen during your pets appointment.

It means the world to us when pet parents choose our team for their ultrasound needs and we are here to help every step of the way!
