Dowagiac Animal Hospital will be closed today from 12p.m.- 5p.m.(afternoon hours) while I.T. work is completed on our internet and servers. During this time, our computers will be unavailable, so we will not be able to assist with prescription pickups. We are so sorry for the inconvenience but after we get this fixed and situated the office will be able to operate more efficiently.

Saying goodbye to a cherished pet is one of the hardest parts of loving a companion, and we know how deeply painful those final moments can be. To help support you and your family through this heartbreaking time, we are creating a special, dedicated Comfort Room at our clinic.

This room is being designed as a warm, peaceful sanctuary—complete with a cozy couch, and a gentle atmosphere that feels like a comforting living room rather than a clinical exam area.

We hope this new space brings a gentle measure of comfort, dignity, and solace to our families when it is needed most.

Hi! My name is Heather, and I work as a Veterinary Technician here at the clinic. I’ve been part of the team for 2 years, and my favorite part about working in veterinary medicine is surgery.

Outside of the clinic, I have 5 pets of my own — 2 dogs and 3 cats. I’m also a proud mom of two children! My son is a Union Electrician, and my daughter is a women’s lacrosse coach specializing in strength and conditioning.

If I could own any animal in the world, I would choose an African elephant. 🐘 When it comes to my work at the clinic, my favorite type of appointment is diagnostics.

We’re so happy to have Heather as part of our team and can’t wait for you to get to know her! ❤️🐾

🐾 Meet the Staff – Dr. Wilson! 🐾

Hi, I’m Dr. Wilson, the veterinarian here at Dowagiac Animal Hospital! I’ve been caring for pets in our community for 15 years, and one of the best parts of my job is building relationships with both pets and their people.

At home, I have one dog, Stanley, who you may recognize from lounging around the clinic! I’m also the proud father of five children. When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me spending time on the lake.

I’m definitely a dog person, and if I could own any animal, I’d still choose a dog—they’re truly man’s best friend. My favorite patients are the friendly, affectionate ones, and I enjoy every opportunity to interact with animals and the families who love them.

I look forward to continuing to care for your pets and getting to know you and your furry family members! 🐶💙

🐾 Meet the Staff – Melissa! 🐾

Hi! My name is Melissa. I work as a Veterinary Assistant and the I.T. Manager here at Dowagiac Animal Hospital, and I’ve been part of the team for 5 weeks.

My favorite part about working in veterinary medicine is meeting and helping the animals.

Outside of the clinic, I have 1 pet of my own:

🐶 Maverick (Dog)

I’m also a proud mom of 2 kids.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy building LEGO sets, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and walking my dog with my kids.

My favorite animal is a dolphin, and if I could own any animal in the world, it would be a Highland cow. When it comes to dogs or cats, I’m definitely a dog person!

My favorite part of my job is being a comforting, friendly voice for animals when they’re nervous and helping them get back to feeling better.

As for my favorite type of patient or appointment, I like to work with them all—that’s part of why I enjoy my job!

Something you might be surprised to learn about me is that I’m an avid Harry Potter fan.

If I had to describe myself in three words, I’d say:

🐾 Meet the Staff! 🐾

Hi! My name is Jade. I’m a Veterinary Assistant here at Dowagiac Animal Hospital, and I’ve been part of the team since June 29th.

Outside of the clinic, I have three pets of my own:
🐱 Lily, my cat
🐶 Goose, my dog
🦎 Mushu, my bearded dragon

When I’m not at work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with my family. My favorite animal is a sloth bear, and if I could own any animal in the world, I’d choose a wallaby! When it comes to dogs or cats… I can’t choose—I love them both!

My favorite part of my job is meeting and caring for all of the animals that come through our doors. My favorite appointments are puppy and kitten visits because I get to watch them grow and progress over time.

Something that might surprise you about me is that I enjoy thrifting and baking. If I had to describe myself in three words, I’d say empathetic, determined, and passionate.
