This post is not asking for help for NovaStar. This is a different kind of post. We have a friend and rescuer in Church Point Louisiana. I've been there. Its not much there but stray animals and a handful of people trying to help, led by Amber Richard with Southern Pets Animal Rescue. She takes in so many animals and helps so many others. I've watched her struggle over the last few years.

Last nite she picked up 3 emaciated sad dumped puppies, thrown out literally with the trash!! During the nite one started the most dreaded thing to a rescuer...it started throwing up. The hated P word has not been confirmed but things don't look good.

NovaStar Rescue has donated $50 to help a sister rescue deal with the worst and we are challenging other rescues to do the same. Amber didn't ask for more irresponsible people's problems today and these innocent little souls did not ask for this life.

Just a few shots of our spay neuter dogs from today. Everybody is sleeping on our trip home. It was a long day but not near as hard as our trip last month when it was 103 degrees and Carol and I nearly died that day. 😳

Early morning trip to Ft Smith for our 25 spay/neuter today. We have about half the load sponsored if anyone would like to sponsor a dog for spay/neuter and rabies, $60.

🐾 Tomorrow, 25 more NovaStar dogs are heading to Kitties & Canines in Fort Smith to be spayed or neutered!

At $60 per dog, including their rabies vaccine, our total will be approximately $1,500. That’s assuming none of the dogs are in heat, which would add to the cost.

We’re incredibly grateful for this low-cost option, but $1,500 still makes our rescue bank account whimper. And unfortunately, “but look how cute they are” is not an accepted form of payment. We’ve checked.

❤️ A $60 donation sponsors one dog’s spay or neuter and rabies vaccine. If you can’t sponsor an entire dog, any amount toward tomorrow’s trip would help tremendously.

Spaying and neutering is how we prevent future litters from needing rescue. Thank you for helping us give these 25 dogs a healthier future while preventing more unwanted litters. We are incredibly grateful for your support! 🐾

Good morning on this brisk fall day -- finally. 🍂 🍁

Not much going on here today but cleaning and feeding and all the usual things. We have had no volunteers. No dog walkers. No doggy day out for anyone. Nobody to just come out and love on some sweet puppies.

We are working with a skeleton crew out here because of finances. We are struggling to take care of this community's throwaway pets. And we ask for help and get nothing.

Yes, we are still closed to intake and still working at getting our numbers down. But we need help.

If you have an hour, a day, half a day...we don't care. We will take whatever you have to spare. We just need help. The dogs need help. They need out of pens and exercised and socialized.

Thank you all for being here. And thank you to the ones who are always here and always willing to help!!

Good Morning and HAPPY $5 FRIDAY!!

As always, things have been busy busy here at NSR. It is getting to be that time of year where we need to start preparing for the cold and wet. We still have 13 dogs in dirt kennels. We are struggling trying to figure out a way to move them before the winter rain and mud. FOSTERS for any of the 13 or any other dog would help free up space. Our sweet Sampson pictured here would love for all his friends at the rescue to be inside or on concrete for the winter!!

Just a few things coming up in the future here at NovaStar on 333!

1. Halloween event at Tractor Supply Co. On October 31! Watch the page for details.

2. Low-cost Vaccination and chip clinic on November 7. Watch the page for details.

3. A day of cleaning and organizing. Our storage shed here at the rescue is in bad need of cleaning and organizing. If you're good at organizing and sorting we could sure use your help!! Date is TBD, but sometime in October or November.

4. 🎅 PAWS is getting close. Which is why we need to get #3 accomplished quickly!!

5. DOGGY DAY OUT. Every day!! What better way to get out and enjoy this weather than taking a hike or just relaxing with one of our amazing Stars!!

🥁🥁 THE RESULTS ARE IN! 🥁🥁

So many good guesses… and not a single person guessed BOTH breeds correctly! 👀

Mrs. Jumbo is 51% French Bulldog and 49% Beagle! 🧬🐾

Almost a perfect half-and-half mix!

We were surprised too! We had the Beagle part pegged, but NONE of us saw French Bulldog coming! 😂 Those floppy ears were keeping a secret!

It just goes to show that even our best breed guesses can be way off. Mrs. Jumbo said, “Y’all don’t know me!” 💅😂

This was SO much fun, and we’d love to do it again! DNA tests aren’t in our rescue budget, but if anyone wants to donate a doggy DNA test for a future round of “Guess the Breed,” we’d gladly put it to use! 💕

🥁🥁 GUESS THE BREED! 🥁🥁

Do y’all remember this little girl we picked up from the Morrilton area a couple of weeks ago after the person who had her threatened to dump her in a field?

Meet Mrs. Jumbo! 🐘💕
(Dumbos momma because she has elephant ears)

When we picked her up, we were surprised to discover she was approximately SEVEN MONTHS OLD and weighed only 13 pounds! We felt pretty certain there was some Beagle in there, but that left plenty of room for debate. 😂

Y’all had lots of guesses, and quite a few people were convinced she had Weimaraner in her!

Well… we happened to have a DNA test that one of our friends had sent us just for fun. We’d been saving it for the right dog, and who better than this unique little girl?! 🧬

The results are officially IN! 👀

But before we spill the beans, we want to hear your best guesses!
