Hey Seacoast Pet Parents!

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Cortes to our team starting August 5th!

Dr. Lina Cortes earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from La Salle University in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2015. After graduation, she practiced veterinary medicine in Colombia for several years before moving to Virginia, where she later earned a Master of Science in Neuropharmacology from Virginia Tech in 2021. She went on to complete two internships that further strengthened her clinical skills and deepened her commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Cortes has been an advocate for the veterinary profession and internationally trained veterinarians. She worked alongside Virginia legislators to help develop a supervised traineeship pathway that allows internationally trained veterinarians to serve their communities while completing the remaining steps toward full licensure. Through these efforts, she has worked to expand opportunities for qualified veterinarians while helping address the growing need for accessible veterinary care.

Dr. Cortes has a special interest in small animal medicine and is excited to join the clinical team at Winichahanat Veterinary Care. She looks forward to becoming part of the Dover community, building lasting relationships with clients, and caring for their pets for many years to come.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cortes enjoys spending time outdoors with her fiancé, Alexis, exploring new places and restaurants, and crocheting at home.

While Dr. Hunt and Kevin are on a short but well deserved vacation, Friday through Monday, we’re happy to let you know that we’ll have some wonderful veterinarians joining us to help care for your pets!

Dr. Munis, Dr. Landers and Dr. Guerrette are experienced doctors that will provide the same compassionate, high-quality care you’ve come to expect from our team. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time, and we’re grateful to have such fantastic veterinarians helping us continue to care for your furry family members.

Hey Seacoast Pet Parents!!

We just wanted to let you know that the clinic will be closed this Friday (July 3rd) and Saturday (July 4th) to allow our team time to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones. ❤️🤍💙

We will reopen during our normal business hours on Monday from 8:00 - 6:00pm and look forward to seeing you and your fur babies then!

Hey Seacoast Pet Parents!

In observance of Juneteenth, the clinic will be closed on Friday, June 19th.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when U.S. Cavalry troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved people that they were free, nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had declared their freedom. It is recognized as the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a day to honor freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

We will resume our normal business hours on Saturday from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM.

As we continue through this period of transition, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank our amazing clients for their patience, understanding, and support.

Recently, our team has been working hard to navigate changes as we transition to a new chapter with Dr. Hunt leading our medical team while continuing to provide the quality care your pets deserve. We know that some appointments, phone calls, and wait times may have taken longer than usual, and we truly appreciate the kindness so many of you have shown our staff during this time.

Please know that every member of our team is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. While our doctor team is changing, one thing that is not changing is who we are. Winichahanat Veterinary Hospital remains independently owned and operated, and we are committed to continuing the same personalized care and community-focused values that have always been at the heart of our practice.

Hey seacoast pet parents!
It appears that somebody thinks it would be cool to spam a bunch of our old posts. They have been posting a t-shirt, and this is not our t-shirt. Please don't respond to it, I'm trying to take care of this as quickly as I can.
I am very sorry for this inconvenience. Very frustrating, and disappointing that some people can be so disrespectful.

We wanted to let you know the city will be working on a water main replacement project on Central Avenue starting Thursday, April 9.

Though this shouldn’t directly affect any parking outside the clinic we recommend allowing extra travel time for appointments and appreciate your patience during this project. If you have any trouble accessing us, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help! 🐾
