We’re keeping a close eye on the incoming weather forecasts for our Atlanta area. While current updates suggest we may only see stronger summer storm conditions—like heavy rain and potential localized flooding—we want to make sure everyone stays safe and prepared!

At this time, **Kay Animal Hospital remains open with regular operating hours**, and we have no changes to our schedule.

If your pet does **not** need extractions, this is a great opportunity to stay ahead of dental disease and protect their long-term health.

Dental disease doesn’t just cause bad breath. Plaque and tartar can build up below the gumline, leading to inflammation, chronic pain, tooth loss, and infection. Preventive dental care helps us catch problems early and keep your pet comfortable.

Margi has such a kind heart for both people and animals, and we are already so thankful to have her with us. She has truly hit the ground running here and has been such an amazing addition to our team!

🩺🐾 CANINE & FELINE INTRALIPID INFUSIONS

Helping our patients fight certain toxin exposures!

When a pet gets into something toxic, every minute matters. One treatment we may be able to use in certain poisoning cases is an Intralipid Infusion, also called Intravenous Lipid Emulsion (ILE) therapy.

Think of intralipids as a special IV fat solution that can act like a “toxin magnet” for certain fat-soluble substances. It can help draw some medications and toxins away from important tissues and into the bloodstream, where the body has a better opportunity to process and eliminate them.

💉 Intralipid therapy may be considered for certain exposures involving substances such as:

🐾 Permethrin and pyrethroid insecticides — especially dangerous exposures in cats
🐾 Ivermectin and some other antiparasitic medications
🐾 Baclofen — a human muscle relaxant
🐾 THC / ma*****na products in severe cases
🐾 Certain local anesthetics, including bupivacaine
🐾 Some calcium-channel blocker medications
🐾 Certain beta-blocker medications
🐾 Some antidepressants, including certain tricyclic antidepressants
🐾 Some benzodiazepines and barbiturates
🐾 Certain opioids and other highly fat-soluble medications

Intralipid therapy isn’t appropriate for every poison, and it isn’t a universal antidote. The toxin involved, amount ingested, symptoms, timing of exposure, and your pet’s overall condition all help determine the safest treatment plan.

❤️ This is another way our hospital can provide advanced supportive care when pets get into something they shouldn’t.

If you think your dog or cat has been exposed to a toxin or medication, don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Call a veterinarian or animal poison-control service immediately. Bring the product packaging with you whenever possible.

🐶🐱 Fast action can make a tremendous difference in poisoning cases.
