🐾 Peanut & Bean Had a Blast Today! 🐾

Peanut and Bean got some time out together today, and it’s safe to say they had the best time! From running around the yard to chasing each other and enjoying the sunshine, these two girls were all smiles and wagging tails.

💜 Peanut is a 2-year-old, 28 lb sweetheart who has come such a long way since being rescued from the side of an Alabama highway. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she absolutely loves other dogs and gains confidence from her canine friends. Once she trusts you, her goofy, playful personality shines through.

💙 Bean is a 2-year-old, 24 lb Boston Terrier mix who is the perfect medium-sized companion. She loves playing fetch, chewing on a good bone, and making friends with dogs of all sizes. Bean is crate trained, house trained, and always ready for an adventure before settling down to relax.

Both Peanut and Bean are still searching for their forever homes and would love families of their own to share all that love and happiness with.

Meet Mater 💙

Mater is an 80-pound sweetheart who is absolutely convinced he’s a lap dog. 😂

Mater came into a South Carolina shelter as a stray last December. During his time there, it was discovered that he had been shot, leaving a bullet lodged in his front right leg. Despite every effort to save it, the damage was too severe and his leg had to be amputated.

Today, Mater is healed, thriving, and here at Dog Orphans waiting for his forever family. He gets around great on three legs and doesn’t let anything slow him down. Mater loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and has a gentle, easygoing personality that wins everyone over.

His favorite activities include a quick romp around the yard, splashing around in a pool while wearing his life vest, and enjoying a generous helping of whipped cream. After a few minutes of play, he’s more than happy to curl up for a nap.

Despite weighing 80 pounds, Mater firmly believes he belongs in your lap and will gladly snuggle up whenever given the chance.

Mater has overcome incredible challenges and still greets every day with a wagging tail and a heart full of love. Now all he needs is a family to call his own. 💙

Tobey & Black Jack! 🐾

Tobey and Black Jack got some playtime together yesterday, and it’s safe to say they could have played tug-of-war all day if we let them! Neither boy was willing to surrender the toy, and they had an absolute blast playing together.

Tobey is our 6½-month-old hound mix (born 11/28/25). He’s been back with us for a little over a month after an adoption that ultimately wasn’t the right fit. The family had a special-needs child, and the unique challenges that can come with those situations made it difficult to meet everyone’s needs. Sometimes even when everyone is trying their best, a placement just isn’t the right match. Tobey remains the same sweet, playful, affectionate puppy we’ve always known and love.

Black Jack is our 3½-month-old Lab mix (born 3/5/26). This handsome boy is full of puppy charm and loves making friends. He’s playful, gentle, and always ready for fun, whether that’s a game of tug-of-war, chasing toys around the yard, or cuddling up afterward.

Watching these two boys together was a reminder of just how much fun puppies can be. Now they just need families of their own to share those adventures with.

Mater is an 80-pound sweetheart who is absolutely convinced he’s a lap dog. 😂

We are in desperate need of Iams Puppy Food, which can be purchased directly from our Amazon Wish List and shipped right to the shelter.

Currently, 15 of our 21 dogs are eating puppy food, and we’re going through about 30 cups every day!

If you’re local, you’re welcome to purchase a bag and drop it off during our open hours. Every bag helps keep our growing pups fed and healthy while they wait for their forever homes.

🐾 Meet Lucky! 🐾
Lucky is a 9-week-old puppy who is ready to find his forever home! He has already overcome more in his short life than most puppies ever should. Lucky was surrendered after suffering injuries when he was attacked by a larger dog and required emergency surgery. Thankfully, he has recovered beautifully and is now thriving.
Lucky is expected to grow into a large dog. His mother is a 50-pound Catahoula Bulldog mix, and his father is a 70-pound American Bulldog.
Full of puppy curiosity and resilience, Lucky approaches life with a happy spirit despite everything he has been through. He loves making new friends and has the sweetest personality.
Lucky is doing wonderfully with house training, gets along great with other dogs, and enjoys spending his days playing, exploring, and then curling up for a well-earned nap. He is affectionate, social, and has all the makings of a fantastic family companion.

Meet Peanut!
Peanut is a 2-year-old, 28-pound sweetheart rescued from an Alabama highway after days in traffic. Though shy at first, she has made great progress and gains confidence every day.
She loves other dogs and would do best with a confident canine companion. Peanut can be timid with new people, but once she feels safe, her goofy, affectionate personality shines. She enjoys Dog TV, helping with laundry, and being close to her people.
Peanut prefers sleeping near her humans and is still working on house training. She’s great with dogs, good with cats, and is looking for a patient family to help her continue building confidence.

Meet Bean! 🐾

Bean is a 2-year-old Boston Terrier mix weighing 24 pounds — the perfect medium-sized companion.

She would do great with a medium to active family. Bean loves chasing balls in the yard, chewing on a good bone, and playing with dogs big and small. She can be a little rowdy when she’s excited, but she listens well when told to settle down.

Bean is crate trained, house trained, good with kids, and can be trusted alone in the house for a few hours. She does not chew things she shouldn’t and is an all-around good girl.

Bean does have a wonky leg from an old injury that healed on its own. She walks with a slight gait, but she can still run, play, and enjoy life like any other dog. She has been seen by two vets, and both confirmed she is doing well and does not need surgery.

Meet Ellie 💕
8 month old 33lb mixed breed from South Carolina

For the first five months of her life, Ellie knew nothing but loneliness. She was tied to a pole and left alone day after day, without the love, care, or attention every puppy deserves. The neglect was so severe that she lost all of her fur. Just a baby, Ellie faced the world scared and alone.

Thankfully, everything changed when Animal Control stepped in and rescued her.

Ellie was welcomed into a loving foster home where, for the first time, she felt safe. With proper care, her beautiful coat grew back, but even more importantly, her spirit began to heal. Today, Ellie is thriving and enjoying all the things a puppy should—playing with her foster dog siblings, making new friends, and soaking up affection. She even gets along wonderfully with cats!

Her foster mom describes her as the sweetest girl, full of love and ready to share it with a family of her own. Ellie has come so far and is proof of how resilient a dog can be when given a second chance.

Now all she needs is a forever home where she can continue to blossom and be cherished the way she always deserved.

Zack is a happy-go-lucky 3-year-old Beagle with a personality as sweet as can be. This lovable boy weighs approximately 25 pounds and is the perfect mix of playful, curious, and affectionate.
Zack is both crate trained and house trained, making him an easy addition to his future home. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages, and he especially loves children. Whether he’s chasing after a toy, playing a game of fetch, going for walks, or exploring the world around him, Zack brings fun and excitement wherever he goes.
When playtime is over, Zack is more than happy to settle down for some cuddle time. He enjoys relaxing with his people and even sleeps well snuggled up in bed.
