Pawfection clients-
At our salon, your pet’s safety and well-being will always come before anything else.
We know that life happens, and sometimes coats become matted despite the best intentions. Please understand that we are always here to help, and we do not turn pets away simply because they are in rough condition. In fact, we take extra care and time with dogs who need us the most.
That being said, severe matting—especially when it is tight to the skin—can be very dangerous to remove. In these situations, grooming is not just a haircut. It requires the use of extremely sharp tools, very controlled movements, and a calm, cooperative pet. Mats that are close to the skin can hide sores, irritation, or even make the skin more likely to nick or cut during removal.
For us to safely complete this process, your dog must be able to remain reasonably still and tolerate the grooming. If a dog is overly stressed, fearful, or reactive, it significantly increases the risk of injury—no matter how experienced or careful the groomer is.
While we always do everything in our power to work through challenges and make every appointment successful, there are rare cases where we have to make the difficult decision to stop the groom if it becomes unsafe to continue. If that happens, we will always communicate with you and may recommend that your pet be seen by a veterinarian, where sedation and medical supervision can allow the mats to be removed safely.
This is not something we take lightly, and it does not happen often. However, we will never risk causing harm to a pet in order to “finish the job.”
Our goal is to keep every dog safe, comfortable, and cared for—no matter the situation. Thank you for your understanding, your trust, and for allowing us to care for your furry family members. 🤍
