Pumpkin & Turkey Paw-Print Bites
These adorable and healthy bites are perfect for your pup's Thanksgiving feast! They're easy to make and packed with dog-safe ingredients.
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup cooked, shredded plain turkey (no seasonings, skin, or bones)
• 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (100% pure pumpkin, not pie filling)
• 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup unsalted chicken or vegetable broth
• 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional, for fresh breath!)
Instructions:
1. Preheat & Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, egg, and broth until smooth.
3. Add Dry & Turkey: Gradually add the whole wheat flour and chopped parsley (if using) to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the shredded turkey. The dough will be thick.
4. Form Bites: Roll the dough into small, marble-sized balls. Gently flatten each ball slightly. You can leave them as disks or use a small paw-print cookie cutter (or even a mini-heart cutter!) if you have one, re-rolling scraps as needed.
5. Bake: Place the formed bites on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
6. Cool: Let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your furry friend.
7. Store: Store leftover treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days, or freeze for longer storage.
Yields: Approximately 2-3 dozen small bites
