Last fall, Lane & I were house hunting. While that was fun, it was stressful and time consuming. There was a lot to it we didn’t understand or realize, but we had an amazing team & family who helped guide us.

With the move, a lot of my rabbitry stuff got misplaced & is still lost— probably packed away! I also got extremely behind on record keeping & planning. My rabbits got put on the back burner while Lane & I figured out this new chapter of our life. It was so new!

Owning a house, the bills that followed (they can go away anytime now!), the never-ending plans and projects, the constant issues. It has been just an avalanche of things!

Getting out of rabbits was something we discussed many times because I felt bad they hardly got any of my time & I was burnt out.
Truthfully, I checked on them once a day, thankful for the free-feeders & large water bowls. Sometimes, I would be out there 3x a day, but I never committed much time this past year. I did maintain trays weekly, made sure everyone had food & water, but they didn’t get much time out of their cages. There were times I forgot to trim nails, until I went to pull a rabbit out and they reminded mešŸ˜…

Let me say, I am so glad that I did not get out of them. Gambler is the entire reason I decided to keep going.
I have had many interested in her & almost had her sold, but then backed out as I could not do it— she is here forever!
While they did not get the top notch care or hours of love each week, they pulled through. They are one of the easiest animals to care for. Many didn’t mind not getting ā€œdisturbedā€ everyday with my hand going in their faces.

I finally took some time, sat down & am re-focusing on my rabbitry. It is something that is enjoyable, I just had to find the joy in it again. A hobby that always forces me to push myself to think & reach goals. I get reminded often how far my rabbitry has come in the past few years.

2027 is going to look a lot different, a lot more time committed, new bloodlines coming in, more upgrades to the rabbit barn. That is my goal. With that, of course, comes improving the quality of stock I have, produce, and can provide to breeders. Lane & I have so many fun plans to come within the rabbit barn in the next year.

So grateful for Global Pedigree helping me be able to do everything in one spot!

Meet SquirrelšŸæļø
On Saturday, I picked up yet another new breed for us! I’m not quite sure what the future holds for tans in our barn, but I have been fond of them for some time now. I finally decided to get one!

This little guy is a JR buck. We are now working on a little counter in our barn so he can practice hopping— then maybe he will hit a show table🄰 I do love the energy! It balances out the calmness & laziness of our silver fox.

Introducing RipTide!

He is a steel dutch who is the start of my little sisters herd! She is excited to get into dutch & riptide is such a sweet rabbit. If anyone knows of any breeders who may be willing to mentor her, let me know. She is ready to learn & take in all of the information!

We will be on the hunt for a dutch doe in the near future! šŸ‘€

On Saturday, we finally were able to make it to a rabbit show!

Most of my rabbits were slipping coats or just babies with baby fur, so we didn’t place well. However, we got some great feed back!

LS41 (Blue JR buck) & LS42 (Blue JR doe) very promising type, just not finished in that coat. Give time to growā€ for both judges.

Gambler got DQ’d show B as she was overweight! 12 1/4 lbs!

It was great to see all of our friends & meet the new fellow fixersšŸ‡šŸ–¤

We have a proven black SR doe looking to hop! Full pedigree & jam packed with G.C.
She is registered (have to find the paper) & ready to be granded.
She is a good mom, but does need a bit of help with building nests. She does need a slightly larger/more open nest box as she is massive.
12.5-13lbs, smaller litters which grow extremely well and fast.
Reason for moving her on is she is related to majority of my stock.
Pics to come later!

He’s just a baby, but holds a pose!

This lil guy could be in a nicer pose, but he’s just learning to tolerate it! He’s going to be grown-out, with his sister, as both would be really nice to have for our future lines!

This is Gertie. Our messed up Diamond Daisy. She came to us as a ā€œDonationā€ bird from our local farm store. I think it’s severe wry neck.
We have been back and forth with keeping her or (mercy) culling her because, she’s different and does struggle to walk. However, she eats, she drinks. She can run?? I wouldn’t really consider it running, but same girl. Me neither.
Gertie has to, like roll over, to get her neck ā€œun-twistedā€ just for it to go back. It’s sad watching it because she can’t do everything our other chickens can do. She will never be able to flop around, she will never be able to perch as she is always twitching. I don’t think she will ever lay eggs, which isn’t a big deal to us— we have plenty of others to cover that!
We put her out with our other girls, ones that she grew with. Though separated to grow with others, she was with nearly all of our birds. She got picked on, she couldn’t really do anything without our turkeys & goose attacking her. So, she got separated, living on her own in a trough while we decided what to do.
Today, she is back outside with the others. Our predators are relatively low right now, so hoping she survives the night— it may seem mean, but her living in a trough her entire life isn’t quality. She needs to range and move around with fresh air and friends.
She is a joy to have around, so for now, she will stay with us.

If she was yours, what would you do? Mercy cull is still an option for us.

*She is more orange now with a nicer ā€œcrownā€ (fluff)*
