Sometimes life gives you lemons. Today we got up early to head out to Full Moon Farms for a fun day of XC schooling. However, mother nature gave us some extra water works and our day got canceled. So as I am driving home with my truck full of ponies I think how can I make lemonade? So naturally I call my good dear friend Kathryn Weaver to see if I can come by and do a quick school in the indoor. Well a MASSIVE SHOUT OUT to Kathy for giving me an amazing impromptu lesson!!!
Thank you so much for helping me figure out a few sticky spots with Baby horse. Loved this so much. We have agreed to figure out how to make this happen more often. ❤️🦊😘🪿
A million thanks for making my day 😘🌺

I am almost 62 - in a month ish. So I kinda of think maybe I shouldn’t be riding young horses or eventing. Especially since my 2021 accident left permanent damage. But the love of horse is strong and my time is my time. So I didn’t plan it but let’s see how it goes with baby horse, Ark and hopefully Queen if she is still up for it. Back to competition again. Please wish me luck I need confirmation of my insanity.

Here is another great piece from Equimotional Performance Coaching

There was a time I thought everyone else had the map.

Everyone else seemed to know exactly what they were doing. How to be the perfect mum. The perfect wife. The perfect rider. The perfect business owner.

Meanwhile, I was over here winging it with a coffee in one hand, horse hair on my clothes, and approximately 47 tabs open in my brain. 🤣

The truth is, most of the biggest things in my life didn't happen because I had a perfect plan.

I didn't know exactly how I was going to become a counsellor. I didn't know how to build a business. I didn't know if I'd ever achieve some of the things I've done with horses.

I just took the next step. And then the next one.

Sometimes confidence doesn't come first.

Sometimes courage looks like saying: "I'm scared, but I'm doing it anyway."

You don't need to have the whole route mapped out. You don't need permission. You don't need to wait until you're ready.

Because the secret is...

Most people aren't ready.

They just decide that staying where they are is more uncomfortable than moving forward.

So if there's something calling you, nudging you, sitting in the back of your mind...

Maybe today is the day you stop waiting for certainty and start trusting yourself instead.

One life. One chance. A lot of learning along the way.

And sometimes the magic starts the moment you say...

"Sod it. Let's see what happens." ✨🐴💛

Ambition. Drive. Obsession. Hyperfixation. Trying hard.

Depending on who you ask, these words can either sound inspiring... or slightly concerning. 🤣

In the horse world, the line between them can sometimes feel very thin.

To become successful in any equestrian discipline requires a level of commitment that most people outside of horses simply don't understand.

Early mornings. Late nights. Cold winters. Hot summers. Financial sacrifices. Missed lie-ins. Hours spent training for a few minutes in an arena.

Is that ambition?

Drive?

Obsession?

Maybe a bit of all three.

As someone with ADHD, I often think about hyperfixation too.

That tendency to become completely absorbed by something you love. To spend hours researching. Planning. Learning. Analysing. Dreaming.

Sometimes that's the very thing that helps us improve.

But here's the bit I've learnt over the years:

Success isn't just about trying harder.

Because there will always be someone working hard.

Success comes from knowing when to push and when to pause. When to train and when to rest. When to chase the goal and when to enjoy the horse standing in front of you.

The rosette isn't the whole story.

The story is the hundreds of unseen decisions that happen before it.

The days you ride when you're tired. The days you don't ride because your horse needs a break. The moments you choose welfare over ambition. The moments you keep showing up even when nobody is watching.

That's not obsession.

That's dedication.

And perhaps the real success isn't found in the qualification, the championship, or the result sheet.

Perhaps it's in still loving it after all these years.

🐴❤️
