PSA: Heatstroke 🥵🥺
As temperatures rise, it’s important to recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in pets:
• Excessive panting
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Weakness or difficulty walking
• Vomiting
• Collapse or unresponsiveness
Heat stroke is a ‼️ medical emergency ‼️ and can happen quick! If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool, shaded area, offer small amounts of water 💦 , pour water over the head and seek veterinary care right away.
Prevention is key: avoid exercising pets during the hottest parts of the day ☀️, always provide access to fresh water and NEVER leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even with the windows down. And remember, when walking your dogs 🐶, if the ground is too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. 🐾
A few minutes can make all the difference! Stay safe this summer and protect your pets. ❤️
