4th🎇July Horse🐴Sale⛵️
“That’ll Do Pig” Babe is a 2016 mini horse/shetland pony standing 32” tall. She has spent many years being our little-kid dream pony and giving lessons to our youngest students. She is sweet and calm with the littles, very patient of little kid behavior (running around, being loud/yelling, silly shenanigans, etc.). She LOVES playing games with her littles and is happy to carry around lots of toys in her rides. She can be quick and competitive when being led on-foot (you’ll see her ‘sport mode’ ears when she feels competitive). She has been our little confidence builder in our lesson program for many years, but all of our wee littles have grown up and it’s time for her to find a new kiddo to teach. She would do lovely in another lesson program with starting kids out, or could be the at-home family horse. She is the same whether she sits around for a month, or does back-to-back games with her littles. She is a wonderful “first” horse for new horse owners, on the condition that her needs are met and she has a little herdmate near enough in size for her to safely socialize with. Her only flaw is she really likes to eat grass even when she shouldn’t! She is a dream in an arena, and otherwise does fine riding/leading on grass with either a daisy rein or an adult using a leadline to keep her head up.
She is perfect for the farrier, dentist, and vet (though we do use smaller guage needles for her vaccines, and typically do one vaccine at a time for her little body to handle). She will stand in cross-ties all day long and is not herd-bound. The kids love to color her hooves and do her hair and she just eats it up! She is gentle when taking treats from littles (her favorite is pretzels!). We’ve taken her out on little trail rides and bush walks and she does lovely. She has taught lots of my older students how to do groundwork, lunging, and ground driving and she has been an absolute star and so patient with them (we have never actually hooked her to a cart, as we do not have one, but i imagine she would excel at that as well!). She is safe and sound w/t/c, and is well-schooled in-hand and for groundwork. Under saddle, she is very much a cute, steady, tentative-to-respond little kid’s pony!
Babe is completely up-to-date on absolutely everything. She has all her yearly vaccines done, her teeth recently floated, her feet regularly trimmed, she has been de-wormed. She is comfortably barefoot. She does do best in a dry-lot situation (as most minis do!). She gets some 1st cutting hay to munch on, and gets a ration balancer twice a day with some added electrolytes, probios, and some zyrtec (the allergens in Maryland are unreal). Babe will also be coming with all of her personal tack and equipment (saddle, pad, girth, bitless bridle, halter/lead, fly mask, turnout sheet, turnout medium blanket, grazing muzzle, cooler/rug), and she comes with all of her medical records from the past four years. We want her to have a successful start in her new home, wherever that may be!
I’m honestly devastated to let her go as she has been in my barn for many years and is extremely well-loved, but my personal medical bills are forcing me to say goodbye to her. I’m hoping she finds a wonderful life in a new home.
