As you enjoy the festivities, don’t forget to keep your pets in mind:
🎆 Fireworks can be frightening—keep pets indoors in a secure, quiet area.
🦴 Avoid sharing BBQ foods, bones, corn cobs, grapes, onions, chocolate, and alcohol.
🐕 Make sure collars and ID tags are up to date in case a frightened pet slips away.
💧 Keep plenty of fresh water available and watch for signs of overheating.

🇺🇸 Holiday Closure Reminder 🇺🇸

Animal Health Center will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in observance of Independence Day as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday! ❤️🤍💙

If your pet needs medication refills, prescription food, or is due to board with us, please call ahead so we can make sure everything is ready before the holiday weekend.

If your pet experiences a medical emergency while we are closed, we will have a veterinarian on call out of our Sikeston Clinic!

We hope you and your furry family members have a safe and happy Fourth of July! Please remember to keep pets indoors during fireworks, ensure they have updated ID tags, and avoid sharing holiday foods that could upset their stomachs.

🐾✨ Puppy Spotlight: Copper! ✨🐾

Sweet Copper visited Dr. Roach on Friday and received his final set of puppy vaccinations! 🎉

Completing the puppy vaccine series is an important milestone that helps protect puppies from serious diseases as they continue to grow, explore, and make new friends. 🐶💙

Copper was such a brave boy and did a wonderful job during his visit! We can’t wait to watch him continue to grow into a happy, healthy pup.

🌊⚠️ Blue-Green Algae Warning for Pet Owners ⚠️🌊

As temperatures rise, please be cautious when allowing your pets to swim, play, or drink from ponds, lakes, and other stagnant bodies of water.

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can produce toxins that are extremely dangerous and potentially fatal to dogs. Unfortunately, even a small amount of contaminated water can cause serious illness.

🚫 Avoid water that:
• Appears blue-green, green, or resembles pea soup
• Has scum, mats, or paint-like streaks on the surface
• Has a foul or unusual odor
• Is stagnant or has little water movement

⚠️ Signs of blue-green algae toxicity may include:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Excessive drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Difficulty walking
• Tremors or seizures
• Difficulty breathing

If you suspect your pet has been exposed, rinse them with clean water and contact a veterinarian immediately. Early treatment is critical.

The safest choice is to bring fresh drinking water for your pets and prevent them from swimming in questionable water sources.

Memorial Day weekend is all fun and games… until your pup sneaks a bite from the BBQ. 🐶💔🍔

What seems like a harmless treat can quickly turn into a serious emergency. Fatty meats, bones, corn cobs, onions, grapes, alcohol, and other cookout favorites can cause anything from upset stomachs to dangerous blockages, pancreatitis, or toxicity.

Dogs may not show signs right away, which is why those “just one little bite” moments can become ER visits before you know it.

As hard as it is to resist those puppy eyes, please avoid giving table scraps or BBQ leftovers to your pets. Keeping them on their regular diet is the safest way for everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend safely. ❤️🐾
