Memorial Day weekend is all fun and games… until your pup sneaks a bite from the BBQ. 🐶💔🍔

What seems like a harmless treat can quickly turn into a serious emergency. Fatty meats, bones, corn cobs, onions, grapes, alcohol, and other cookout favorites can cause anything from upset stomachs to dangerous blockages, pancreatitis, or toxicity.

Dogs may not show signs right away, which is why those “just one little bite” moments can become ER visits before you know it.

As hard as it is to resist those puppy eyes, please avoid giving table scraps or BBQ leftovers to your pets. Keeping them on their regular diet is the safest way for everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend safely. ❤️🐾

Pet Week is still going strong and we are loving every minute of it! 🐾💙

We’ve had so many sweet faces come through our doors, and today was no exception—just look at some of these amazing patients! From wagging tails to curious whiskers, it’s been such a joy caring for each and every one of them.

Sophie and Clara Bell, the pugs, got their yearly vaccines and stocked up on their monthly heartworm/flea/tick prevention by Dr Williamson this morning!

Kirby, the Sphynx, got his yearly check up and yearly vaccines by Dr Scherer!🐈‍⬛

Don’t forget, this is our biggest discounted vaccine week of the year, so it’s the perfect time to get your pets up to date while saving a little, too!

Thank you to everyone who has trusted us with their pets this week—we can’t wait to see even more of you and your furry family members! 🐶🐱

Pet Week is off to an amazing start this year, and we’re loving getting to see all of your pets come in! 🐾
Jack has even been here to greet everyone coming in for their yearly appointments—he’s been taking his job very seriously!

If you haven’t stopped by yet, this is the perfect time—Pet Week is our annual discounted vaccine event, making it easier and more affordable to keep your pets up to date and protected. Preventative care is one of the best ways to keep your furry family members happy and healthy all year long.

Ever wonder why your pet’s surgery drop-off time is so early, even if their procedure is scheduled for later in the day?

Here’s why ⬇️

Your pet’s safety and comfort are always our top priority. Early admission allows our team the time needed to carefully prepare each patient for surgery and ensure they are healthy enough for anesthesia and their procedure.

During this time, we may:
• Perform a full pre-surgical assessment and monitoring
• Run pre-anesthetic bloodwork to check organ function and screen for hidden concerns
• Place IV catheters and begin fluids if needed
• Prepare patient-specific medications including pain control, pre-medications, and sedation
• Set up anesthesia equipment, ET tubes, oxygen supplies, and the surgical suite specifically for your pet

Early drop-offs also help create a calmer, less rushed experience. It gives your pet time to settle in, become comfortable with our team, and receive individualized attention before surgery begins.

Every patient is unique, and we believe they deserve care tailored to their individual needs — not simply a time slot. 🐾

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week 2026! 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the amazing faces that keep our front desk running smoothly—Raigen, Izzy, and Maddie! From the moment you walk through our doors to the time you head home, they’re the friendly voices, helping hands, and smiling faces that make it all happen.

They juggle phone calls, appointments, questions, and plenty of tail wags (and the occasional chaos) with patience, kindness, and a whole lot of heart. Our clinic wouldn’t be the same without them!

AHC Dexter is still open Saturdays with a doctor available alternating weekends. On the alternating Saturdays, we are open with our technicians to assist with:
• Tech appointments
• Boarding
• Medication Pick-Ups

Please note: Emergency services are available for active clients of Animal Health Center locations and Delta Vet Clinic.
