Every single day, more Detroit animals come to us needing urgent medical care — and we can’t do it without this community behind us. That’s why we need every spot filled for our 5K.

Here’s the thing: it’s just $30. And $30 can mean a vaccine, a heartworm test, or days of food for an animal who has nowhere else to turn. When you register, you’re not just running a race — you’re directly saving a life.

Plus — food is included on race day! 😭🎉 So come run (or walk!), eat, and know that everything you gave went straight to an animal who needed it.

Detroit’s shelters and rescues are overwhelmed. Not “getting full” — full, right now, today.

We know fostering feels like a big ask, so let’s be honest about what usually holds people back:

• “I don’t have room”
• “What if I get a dog I can’t handle?”
• “I wouldn’t know where to start”

None of those are dealbreakers — they’re just questions we can actually answer for you.

🧡 Atlas & Gus: Full Circle 🐾

Not long ago, Atlas & Gus were living outside, according to neighbors, for years. Gus warmed up to people right away — but Atlas was so wary it took a live trap just to catch him. Both came to us heartworm positive and needed real time, patience, and care to heal.

Today, we’re celebrating both of them — officially adopted and living the life they deserve. 🎉

🍁 Slow to warm up, sweet all the way through — that’s Maple for you.

This one-year-old tabby spent her early days navigating a Detroit alley on her own. Two months ago, she came into our care still guarded, still unsure. Today? She’s a quiet, calm little soul who just needs a little patience to melt into the biggest sweetheart you’ve ever met.

Maple isn’t loud about her love — she shows it in slow blinks, quiet head bumps, and choosing your lap over anywhere else in the room. She’s ready now to find the person who’ll let her warm up at her own pace and love her fully once she does.

When you lace up for our 5K on September 19th at Kensington Metropark, you’re not just getting a workout — you’re funding rescue operations, foster care, medical treatment, and behavioral training for dogs and cats facing euthanasia in our community.

At just $30 to enter, you’re directly changing the fate of an animal in danger. Walk, run, or bring the whole crew — this is about showing up for the animals who need us most. And yes, your dog is invited too! They can run or walk right alongside you.

ROSIE IS STILL WAITING FOR HER PERSON.

We really thought Rosie’s next chapter was finally beginning, but unfortunately, the foster placement wasn’t able to work out. So once again, Rosie is looking for someone to give her a chance.

And we know we’ve posted Rosie before. We know she has some very specific needs. But we also know that somewhere out there is the person who is going to look at Rosie and say, “That’s my dog.”

Rosie is a beautiful, strong, goofy girl who has so much love to give. She absolutely loves her people and would be happiest being someone’s one-and-only.

She is:
• Wonderful with adults and children
• Fully house trained
• Crate trained
• Non-destructive when left alone
• Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped
• Heartworm-free and has completed treatment
• A big fan of car rides
• Happy to spend her days hanging out with her human

Rosie needs to be the only pet in the home — no dogs or cats. She also needs someone who understands that she thrives with patience, consistency and routine.

We know Rosie isn’t going to be the right dog for everyone.
But she doesn’t need everyone.
She just needs ONE person to choose her.

Rosie has been waiting long enough for her forever home. If you’ve been looking for a dog who wants nothing more than to be your best friend, maybe Rosie is the one you’ve been waiting for.

We don't rescue the easy ones — and this September, we're asking Detroit to run for them. 🐾

Together We Run 5K takes over Kensington Metropark on September 19th, benefiting Together We Rescue Detroit Animals — the foster-based rescue for the dogs and cats other places turn away. Heartworm positive. Behavioral challenges. Senior animals. We take the cases nobody else will.

Here's how the morning goes:
🥞 8:00 AM — Arrival, check-in & breakfast
🏃 9:00 AM — 5K starts
🍽️ 11:00 AM — Lunch for everyone
🥤 Drinks all morning, plus prizes, gift bags, and games

$30 to register. Runners, walkers, and dogs on leash all welcome.
