We can't stress enough to please be extremely careful with household items that can cause major issues for your pets.

We received a call from the Director of an eastside hospital requesting surgical assistance for a one year old cat that had dental floss wrapped around its tongue, and had swallowed an unknown amount at the time.

We removed 34" and 1/2" inches of floss that had wrapped throughout his intestines! Yes, 34 and 1/2 inches!

We are hoping he will make a full recovery. Young animals need to be supervised at all times so they don't get into trouble that could cost them their lives!

Important Information to all new pet parents who purchase puppies under 8 weeks of age!

This sweet puppy was brought to the hospital in critical condition. She is only around 5 weeks old. Far too young to be away from her mother. They need to be at least 8 weeks of age before they leave their mother. She was purchased from a breeder far too young and the new owner was not aware of how easy puppies can "crash" without proper care.

They must eat a proper diet at least every four hours and stay hydrated until at least 8 weeks of age. For the last two days, Dr. Anthony administered fluids to keep her hydrated and instructed the new owner as to after care, which saved her life.

PLEASE, PLEASE do not purchase puppies from breeders that are far too young and have received NO veterinary care. It could cost you hundreds and hundreds of dollars, after you have purchased to puppy from the breeder, to offer life saving care!

For anyone who thinks it is ok or safe to let your cat outdoors unattended, please reconsider.
This poor kitty was brought to us in grave condition.
Until we took an X-ray, we were not aware that it had been shot with a BB gun.
We had to immediately sedate and perform surgery to remove the BB.
Hopefully, he will be ok. He is now on meds and will need to be strictly indoors for at least two weeks. We will continue to talk to his owner about keeping him indoors. Step by step.

UPDATE.....as of 10:27AM power has been restored! Whew! Thank you for your patience.

Pet parents....please be advised that the hospital is out of power at this time. DTE outage map states power is to be reinstated between 8pm today and 12 midnight. We are so very sorry for the inconvenience. We will keep everyone updated. Thank you for understanding.

Pet Parents....our office is closed today, July 4th, so that our team can spend time with their families. If your animal needs medical assistance, please contact Blue Pearl on Inkster Road in Southfield or Oakland Veterinary Services on Telegraph in Bloomfield Township.

Please make certain your animals are secure, gates locked and away from anything that may scare them during the fourth of July weekend.
