Just last week I was able to provide resources instead of taking on another rescue. This little boy is inside a home down the street from my school and will hopefully stay there forever. This is a major shift for me, I am currently at emotional and physical capacity. I’m unable to do what I was doing just a couple years ago so I am shifting to providing resources instead of always taking it on myself.
Here is to continuing to build community and provide education about rescuing.🐾❤️🐈‍⬛

Not sure if that cat you’re seeing around is a friendly stray or a feral community cat? Once you know the signs, they’re easy to spot!

Community cats may not want to interact closely with humans, but they still need our help. Food and water are always appreciated, and most importantly, they should be spayed/neutered so they don’t reproduce and repopulate.

Have you ever seen a feral cat in your neighborhood?

Feline Panleukopenia took this sweet girl. 🐈‍⬛💔🐾

She had a wonderful foster that gave her a safe, loving place to spend her final days. This is the most heartbreaking part of rescue and I am so sorry this happened.

Feline panleukopenia is another example of what our community cats are facing. I am still learning about this and this is virus. It is pretty much a death sentence and comes on rapidly. As I understand, It is a parvo-virus, like the kind puppies contract. It runs rampant through the community cat population. Here I was just concerned about FeLV and FIV.

🔥 DANGEROUS HIGH TEMPERATURES LOCALLY STARTING TOMORROW, FOR THE WEEK!!🔥

🆘 SAVE! KNOW THE SIGNS & WHAT TO DO!! 🆘

🔷 If you feed outdoor cats, please make sure they have access to cold fresh water in the shade at all times❗️

🔹 If you don’t feed wet food, consider adding some for extra hydration.

🔹 When feeding wet food in extreme heat, consider adding a bit of water to it and mixing it up really well for extra hydration.

🔹 If you have indoor/outdoor cats, please consider keeping them indoors during the heat, or at least closely monitor their time outside.

🔹 If you have a catio, make sure they have access to get back inside, make sure they have shade outside, and encourage them to not spend too much time outside.

❤️‍🔥 Know the signs of heat stroke and please act if you see an animal in distress‼️

🚨 FOR THE RESIDENTS READING THIS POST, THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING. THE NEXT STEP IS A COURTROOM. 🚨

73° outside. 115° in the sun. That is a death trap. And we are done asking nicely 😑.

Yesterday, a dog was left in the sun when the ambient temperature was just 73°F. The ground and air inside that sun exposure read 115°F 🥵. That is not "a little warm." That is life-threatening! That is animal neglect. And that is a crime in Eastpointe.

This is not a suggestion. This is the law.

That owner is now facing multiple misdemeanor citations and will answer to our court system. They failed to provide adequate care such as shelter, food, water, and the dog was improperly tethered and unable to reach shade. They will now face the consequences ⚖️.

📌 LET US BE PERFECTLY CLEAR:

⚠️ If the temperature is above 82°F, your pet is NOT permitted outside for more than 3️⃣0️⃣ minutes.

⚠️ We do not care about your excuses. Your pet's body & health does not care about your schedule, your opinions, or your pet's "preferences."

⚠️ If your pet "enjoys" the heat, you had better be out there suffering through it with them — or you will still be cited. We will not debate this.

🚫 If you leave for work with your pet outside, do not be surprised when you are called home to let them in — or when your pet is confiscated.

If your pet is confiscated, you will go to court to try and try to get them back. And we will fight to ensure you do not for their safety and well-being.

This is accountability. Not a conversation. Not a request. The law exists to protect those who cannot protect themselves. We will protect the voiceless if their owners will not.

Do better. Bring them inside. Be the owner your pet thinks you are.
