Colony Cat Club is a Detroit-based cat rescue that was officially created on March 31, 2023.

Colony Cat Club Detroit is a 501c3 non-profit cat rescue serving Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park through TNR, medical care, and adoption for outdoor kitties! Born out of need, we are ready to work towards our belief that every cat deserves a chance. Our mission is to care for our city's discarded kitties through rescue, adoption, and TNR (trap, neuter, return). We also believe in empowering and supporting our neighbors through providing assistance to care for their beloved cats.

🐱 It’s BYOC - Bring Your Own Cat 🐱
Bring your cat on a harness + leash, backpack, or stroller! Meet other cat people, and also meet our adoptable cats. 📣 Cats are allowed outside in the greenspace, but please no cats inside. We’re happy to keep an eye on your kitties while you grab a drink inside

Plus, a market will be happening at the same time as our event. So feel free to shop, socialize, and hang out!

The Congregation is also generously donating 5% of sales from the event duration to our rescue. This will help us to TNR more cats and provide vet care 💕

Peep is ready to find a family that likes to play! 🐇

This little baby bunny was born the day before Easter in West Hamtramck. Momma cat kept moving her away from the family nest area, and a well meaning neighbor kept putting her back. Sadly, mom rejected Peep completely. 😩 But lucky for Peep, one of our regular fosters brought her inside and bottle fed her! Bottle feeding is not for the weak of heart.

Peep grew and grew, and now she's ready to find her forever home. She loves to play, and would benefit from another playful cat who is willing to show her the ropes. Peep is absolutely adorable and just the cutest little panther. She is brave and curious. 🖤

We are *so close* to TNRing our 100th cat of the year, and we are getting pretty darn close to 600 cats TNR'd since we started trapping in 2023.

TNR (trap, neuter, return) is a humane solution to stop more kittens from being born outside, prevent the spread of disease, and lessen fighting amongst colony cats. We think that's pretty cool! ✨

You might be my Lucky Charm 🍀🌈✨

Lucky Charm is indeed very lucky. She was found in the middle of I-94 and was promptly scooped up by a concerned driver. 😭 Besides having some goobery eyes, Lucky Charm was in pretty decent shape.

While we don't know how a 5-week-old kitten ended up in the middle of an expressway, we do know that she is tiny but mighty. Lucky Charm has classic tortitude. She loves to play and snuggle with her foster brother Ferb, who is showing her the ropes on how to be a cat. Lucky Charm is a fan of scrolling TikTok, so her adopter might need to either set phone restrictions for her or just fully lean in and let her become a digital creator. She is just a petite little girl, but she is fueled by sheer determination to thrive. We love her. 😍

We have some tiny new club members. 🥹 This is the Animal Crossing Villagers litter: mama Merengue and her kittens Tom Nook, Apple, Soleil, Bonbon and Lolly. 🦝🔔

Merengue came from an Eastside Detroit colony. She gave us quite the surprise when she gave birth in a trap overnight. We were able to make emergency provisions to bring this little family inside to safety.

The kittens are 11 days old today, and just starting to open their eyes. They spend their time eating, sleeping, and loving each other. Merengue is a dream. 💫 She is so grateful for consistent meals, and we are proud to say that she is gaining weight even though she is nursing five very hungry and chubby kittens. The kittens are learning to move around and inspect things now that they can see.

We are not accepting applications yet for this litter, but we just couldn't wait to share them with you! Our followers will be the first to know once they are available. 💕

If you have bells to spare, we are in need of wet kitten food. Merengue currently eats six cans of food a day, and once the kittens start eating solid food, we will likely go through a case of wet food every 4 days.

Rasputin has entered the chat 💬

Rasputin was trapped for TNR a month ago, but he was clearly not thriving outdoors. His hair was completely matted and he just looked like he was giving up. Rasputin had never been seen in the colony before being trapped. Under anesthesia, his hair was trimmed and it appeared that he had some sort of skin infection. He needed extra time to heal.

Rasputin's caretaker offered to give him an extended recovery, and she discovered he was friendly! We got him in the vet for a secondary check-up, and it appeared that his skin was ok. Rasputin just wasn't doing well trying to fend for himself outside. ❤️‍🩹

Rasputin is decompressing hard. His foster witnessed the moment he knew he was safe. 🥹 Rasputin has become friends with fellow foster cat Tank. They are totally bro-ing together. Rasputin loves affection, attention and FOOD! The best part? Rasputin has started to groom himself now that he has stability. 😭

Rasputin is so deserving of having a home to call his own. He's very cat and people friendly, and we can't wait to see his glow up once his fur grows back in.

Meet Billie, Finneas and Ferb 🖤🤍

We have been working on TNR in a Detroit neighborhood for over a year, and had just wrapped up a specific colony in the neighborhood when kittens started appearing. It seems like our final tomcat made sure to spread his seed before we could trap him. 🤦‍♀️ Billie and Finneas were the first kittens found, and then their brother Ferb was discovered 2 days later by their caretaker, so we took him too! You can see their sweet reunion in the final 2 videos. 🥹

Full disclosure: Billie (kitten with the ink splotch on her face) has already been adopted, and her adoption photo is the final slide.

Finneas (medium haired boy with epic ear tufts) and Ferb (boy with receding hairline and perfect beauty mark) are loving their time in their foster home. They are both playful and spunky. Ferb has taken another kitten, Lucky Charm (she will be introduced soon!) under his wing. Both boys are sweet and affectionate, and ready to find homes! 💕

This week we TNR'd 17 cats from Detroit. 🌸

Of those 17 cats, several were pregnant, and 1 had a skin condition which required an additional vet appointment. He is recovering with his caretaker, and may be available for adoption if he decides that indoor life is for him.

🚨 We are in desperate need of fosters.🚨 We are not able to help cats get adopted if we don't have a home for them to land in. Our rescue is asked daily for assistance, and we continue to find cats in need while we are visiting colonies.

We are looking for adult cat fosters! 💕

What are the benefits of fostering an adult cat?
✨ Adult cats have a defined personality, resulting in less "surprises".
✨ Many of our cats previously lived outdoors and deserve a chance at security inside.
✨ Adult cats have so much love to give.

Who would make a great foster family?
💖 Someone with extra space and love to share.

Why is fostering low-risk and high reward?
😻 All supplies and vetting costs are covered by Colony Cat Club.

😻 Fostering is not forever (although it may take time for your foster to be adopted).

But what if I want to adopt the cat I foster?
🥳 Adopting your foster cat is not a failure.
🥳 Sometimes we fluff around and find out. Many of our fosters and even board members have adopted cats that were initially fosters.
🥳 We try and match fosters with their cats, so it's not unusual if you fall in love.
