Days 5-9 training takewaways.

Rhett - fine tuning handling skills, building teamwork and having fun being silly!

Hayes - advanced T, targeting, long and double marks and line manners.

Both boys had an exceptional week and we are geared up for training season. But first, snow geese 😉

Days 1-4 have been productive! Lots of drills and concepts for both boys, then putting all the lessons to the test.

First round of steadiness training for Hayes tonight. I knew we would get into wild birds and wanted to see what his honest to goodness reaction would be with a whistle.

No collar pressure added, just clear communication of my expectations leading up to the event and he understood the assignment. What’s even cooler about this is he had a very exciting hunting season before this with dozens of flushes and retrieves, so the drive and desire is certainly there.

Pretty rewarding when the training comes together and the dog wants to be a team player. Good boy, Hayes!

Oh….Rhett said he’s semi retired and the rules don’t apply to him 😂 that tracks.

It’s been 6 months since this boy has had a hand thrown mark from another person and he did not disappoint! Using winter and cold temps to our advantage, we doubled down on obedience and it’s so rewarding to see it coming through in everything.

First two videos are marks, in succession. There was a little creeping in the first one, then remedied in the second. Then the last two videos are blinds, after running marks. Talk about tough for a baby dog. If you watch the last two videos, you’ll see his confidence grow and boy do we love that. Fingers crossed for nice weather so we can fully kick off training season 🤞🏻

Just over halfway into our Intermediate obedience class at DMOTC. This boy is SO fun! His attention and focus on me just makes me melt. He is eager to please and work with me. Take a look at the videos to see what a good boy Hayes is, even in a busy environment!

It's hard to believe the Wildflowers are officially 16 weeks old as of today. How did that happen? Where did my little potatoes go?!

Savvy got to have a sleepover at a fellow trainer's house to experience life from a different perspective. When I picked her up, I was in shock as I realized just how big she's actually gotten. 🥺

In general, 16 weeks marks the end of the socialization window. My devotion as a breeder and trainer was to set these puppies up for the best success possible. Placing my puppies into homes meant I was also handing off my trust to their new owners to continue building off of what I started. I cannot express how proud I am of their owners and how thankful I am to have build these new friendships; with puppy owners and trainers alike. 💖 Here's to more experiences, more adventures and more FUN!! Thank YOU for being a part of the Cory Code family.

First whitetail recovery for Hayes!

Derek shot a nice buck and figured we would give Hayes a chance to trail it. This pup has an incredible nose and it’s always to the ground anyway, so we figured what the heck. He was spot on, even with no prior experience to trailing a deer. Always fun to unleash their potential!

Also, I’m an amateur handler in this realm so don’t come at me 🙃
