Oakley, Luna, Dutchess & Piper enjoying some backyard time together—and I love watching those little check-ins with me. 🥹

They’re free to explore, follow Oakley around, and do their own thing, but they consistently come back to check in. Piper, of course, prefers to stay right by my side. 😂

A huge part of successful training and care comes from the relationship built outside of the actual training sessions. I’ve spent a lot of time building trust, creating positive experiences, and forming a bond with each of these dogs.

When they trust you, they listen to you. When they feel safe with you, they want to be around you. And that relationship makes all the difference. ❤️

Luna & Piper came over for daycare, and we used some of their time here to work on leash manners, heel, and stay — together as a group.

One of the biggest things we worked on was learning that they don’t need to follow me around the house. Being comfortable settling independently is an important life skill, especially in a busy home environment.

They both did really well and showed great progress! 🐶👏

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at Boomer’s evaluation! 💙

Before welcoming a new dog for a stay, we take the time to get to know them in a variety of situations. Boomer went for a walk, played in the backyard, met my dogs, hung out in different rooms of the house, and showed us what commands he knows. 🐶

We’re looking at things like how they interact with people and other dogs, how they handle new environments, their basic obedience, play style, and overall comfort level.

And Boomer? A+ all around! ⭐️

He was such a good boy, and Dutchess especially loved having him around. 😂🐾

At Dog Daze Inn, evaluations aren’t just about checking boxes — they help us make sure your dog is comfortable, happy, and a good fit for our home-style boarding environment. ❤️

This is the kind of progress that makes us LOVE what we do. 🐾❤️

Titus and Tilly are boarding with us, and today they joined Dutchess and Oakley for some down-stay practice.
A few months ago when I first started working with Titus, he was VERY reactive to other dogs. Getting him to calmly exist around dogs was a challenge. Now look at him—laying down in a lineup with dogs that aren’t his sister and holding his stay. 🙌

That didn’t happen overnight, and it definitely wasn’t just about teaching a “down stay.” It’s about building neutrality, impulse control, confidence, communication, and the ability to settle around distractions.
That’s a huge part of what makes Dog Daze Inn different. ❤️

Our boarding isn’t just a place where your dog stays while you’re away. Dogs are part of our home, they get structured activity, enrichment, social opportunities, downtime, and—when appropriate—training woven into their day.

Because boarding can be more than simply being cared for. It can be an opportunity to practice being a better, more confident dog. 🐶

Evaluations, introductions, walks, boarding stays… 🐕🐕‍🦺

To the outside eye, it might not look like much. But when you’re observing dogs around other dogs, there is so much to learn.

Who is confident? Who is unsure? Who needs space? Who engages appropriately? Who gets overstimulated? How do they respond to new dogs, new environments, movement, boundaries, and direction?

These little moments give us valuable information about each dog and help us make better decisions about who they’re compatible with, how we structure their time here, and what they need to be successful.

🥰 Mom had done a little “hacking” on her head and face, so to give everything a chance to grow back evenly, we decided to take her short all over and start fresh.

And honestly… this is what I love most about grooming. 🤍 A calm environment, lots of communication, and a dog who feels safe enough to just stand there and be comfortable. Maisy wasn’t even hooked to a lanyard for this groom—she was simply being a good girl and trusting me. 🐶✨

Sometimes the best part of a groom isn’t just the finished haircut—it’s seeing how relaxed the dog is throughout the process.

Titus and Tilly are getting ready to board soon, and Titus’s progress deserves a little recognition. 🐾

When I first started working with Titus a couple of months ago, he was severely reactive and easily overstimulated. Getting him to calmly exist around other dogs wasn’t something we could rush—it has been slow, steady, intentional work.

We’ve taken the time to build his confidence, teach him how to regulate himself, and gradually incorporate him around my own dogs in controlled situations.
I still have to monitor him 100%, and we’re not pretending he’s “cured.” But watching him sit, listen, and take direction right next to my dogs in a tight space is HUGE progress for him. ❤️

This is exactly why I believe in meeting dogs where they are and building from there. Progress doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s simply being able to calmly share space where that once felt impossible.

And Titus is getting there. One small step at a time. 🐶
