We are now CareVet of Des Moines, and we want to take a moment to talk to you directly about why our name changed and what that means, because we realize there could have been more communication leading up to the change.
The truth is that joining the CareVet network gives us access to resources that make us better, including better equipment, better continuing education for our team, and the ability to offer more to the pets we care for. But here's what it doesn't change: the people. Dr. Malloy and Dr. Gibbons are still here. Rachel, who is about to celebrate her 18-year work anniversary, is still our manager, and we still have Lindsey, Kayla, Carol, Emily and Natalia here – our tremendous Veterinary support team. The team that has known your pet by name isn't going anywhere.
We've heard from some of you that the change felt abrupt, and we understand that. We apologize for not communicating it sooner. CareVet has actually been a behind-the-scenes partner since 2020, supporting our team, our equipment, and our ability to care for your pets. This name change simply makes that relationship visible. Change can feel unsettling, and we don't take your trust for granted. What we can promise you is this: the care your pet receives will always come first. That was true before our name changed, and it's true now. If you have questions, concerns, or just want to talk through what this means for your pet's care, please call us or stop by. We would genuinely love to see you.
With gratitude,
Dr. Malloy, Dr. Gibbons and the entire team at CareVet of Des Moines
FAQ
Why did you change your name?
We joined the CareVet network, a group of veterinary hospitals that share resources, training, and support. The name change reflects that partnership. Dr. Berge made this decision in 2020 (yes, 6 years ago!) because it gives our team access to tools and continued education that help us provide better care, but we know a name change can feel surprising, especially when you've known us as All-Pets Hospital for so many years.
Will my veterinarian and staff still be here?
Yes. Dr. Malloy, Dr. Gibbons and the rest of your care team haven't gone anywhere. The relationships you've built with us are something we take seriously, and that doesn't change with a new name on the door.
Are you still locally run?
We've seen this come up in our community and some social media posts, and want to address it directly. CareVet is a veterinary network, and yes, that means we're part of a larger organization. What we can tell you with confidence is that clinical decisions about your pet's care are made by your veterinarian, not a corporate office. Our commitment to your pet has not changed, and we have been able to benefit from the partnership and bring more resources to your pets; plus, our team has been able to benefit from the knowledge of a larger network of vet professionals.
We understand the uncertainty of change and don't dismiss your concerns! What we'd ask is this: judge us by the care your pet has received here, and by the people who've provided it. If you have specific concerns, please call us; we will always make time to talk.
How do I reach you?
Call us, email us, or stop by. We genuinely want to hear from you.
