Welcome to Iowa Veterinary Wellness Center! (Formerly Iowa Veterinary Acupuncture Clinic) We were the first holistic veterinary practice in the entire Midwest region! We use an integrative approach when handling each of our patients. We are unique in this area as we combine Western medicine with traditional Chinese medicine. As a result, the complementary treatments are more effective and lead to

healthier, happier lives. Our holistic approach allows us to begin our assessment and treatment of each patient from every angle. We focus on looking at each patient in his or her entirety. We utilize the vast tools at our disposal to design a treatment and prevention plan. Our goal is to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, disease symptoms with limited to no side effects. Happy Friday! 🐾 IVWC has been celebrating National Approved Veterinary Assistant Week all week long! 🎉

Big shoutout to our superb veterinary assistant, Lexi! She has been a huge part of our team for the past 3 years! Thank you for everything you do for the team and our patients! 🐾💜

What do veterinary assistants do? They have many roles! This includes:

🐾 Refill Prescriptions
🐾 Assist with surgical procedures by, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, monitoring anesthesia and vitals, and go over discharge and at home care instructions with pet owners.
🐾 Assist with x-rays for diagnostic purposes
🐾 Collect samples for and run labs, including, ear & skin cytologies, f***l smears, and blood.
🐾 Preparing vaccines/materials for the doctors and technicians
🐾 Assist with routine exams, take notes on your pet’s health, and assist in administering treatments, whether it’s vaccines, medications, or special procedures.
🐾 Keeping our clinic clean and organized

A big thank you to our other wonderful new veterinary assistant, Ravyn! She has been a great addition to the team and is fitting in perfect. We appreciate everything you do! 🐶🩵

A little about Ravyn, she grew up in Omaha and moved to Des Moines in 2018 to start her education at Drake University. In 2022, Ravyn obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minors in Business and Art sculpture. Ravyn has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and plans on attending school at Iowa State University. She would like to work with both small and large animals!

At home, Ravyn has 2 Rottweilers and 3 cats. In her free time, Ravyn enjoys cooking, traveling, stand up comedy and painting! 🐾

A little about Hanna, Hanna lives in Central Iowa, She helps IVWC achieve great patient care through her experience in working with animals. After becoming involved in rescue work over ten years ago, she started her veterinary medicine career in 2020. At home, Hanna has 2 beloved pets, Ella (cat) and Teddy (dog). Her free time is best spent curled up with her cat watching a good documentary on something she finds fascinating. Hanna also likes spending time outdoors and enjoys hiking, camping and equestrianship!
