Rabies: Rabies is a fatal viral disease that affects the central nervous system of all mammals, including humans. It is spread through saliva or exposure to neural tissue. Vaccinating against rabies is not only crucial for your pet's safety but is also required by Iowa law. There is currently no test for Rabies that is able to be preformed on a living patient.
Leptospirosis (Lepto): This bacterial infection is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted to humans and can lead to severe kidney and liver changes in pets. Some of these changes can be permanent or fatal. It can be contracted through animal urine and standing water.
Lyme Disease: Transmitted by ticks, Lyme disease can cause joint pain, fever, and kidney disease in pets. This vaccine is especially recommended for dogs living in or visiting areas known for high tick populations.
Bordetella: Also known as kennel cough, Bordetella is a highly contagious respiratory disease. Bordetella is essential for pets that frequent boarding facilities, daycare, dog parks, or grooming salons.
Distemper & Parvovirus: This combination vaccine protects against multiple highly contagious diseases. Distemper and parvovirus can be transmitted from other dogs and wildlife. It is considered a core vaccine for dogs.
Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (FVRCP): This combination vaccine is essential for cats to protect them against three highly contagious diseases. These diseases can cause severe respiratory issues, oral disease, and gastrointestinal problems in cats, making vaccination crucial for their health.
