A moment for the dog who really pushed me to follow my dream and be a dog trainer.
Eris was a different kind of dog. She was capable of doing bitework then being pet by kids and people, she alerted to my high heart rates and low blood sugars. Interrupted my anxious nail biting and leg bouncing. Taught other dogs how to have self control and not react, was an example for my clients. She picked up new tasks/commands in minutes. She could read my mind like no other dog. She was my go anywhere and do anything dog, hikes, group classes, therapy events, Iowa Wild Ice Time, she was my rock. And without her I am picking up the pieces of my life and figuring out how to be me again. There isn’t an instruction manual for loosing your soul dog. There isn’t a magic button you can press to make it all go away. I hear her bark and whine, I hear her spinning in her kennel. Every song makes me think of you. Every time I get in my car all I see is you. Everywhere I go, you’ve been there with me. It’s a comforting but heartbreaking feeling.
So to the dog who started it all.. My Monkey See Monkey Doo. My Naughty Girl. My Eris.
