🐾🎃 TOMORROW IS THE DAY! COME SEE US! 🐱❤️

We hope you’ll join us TOMORROW at the Des Moines Theater from 12–4 PM for a fun adoption event hosted by A Dog’s Dream! 🐾

We’ll have our adorable kittens there waiting to meet you, and there will be lots of fun vendor booths to browse, shop, and support local businesses! 🛍️🐈 It’s a great way to spend your Sunday, meet some cute kitties, and maybe even find your newest family member! ❤️

🐱 Looking to adopt a kitten? There will be TONS of cats looking for their forever homes, so come meet them and see if your perfect match is waiting for you!

🏡 We also have a few adult cats and shy kitties who won’t be attending the event but are still looking for loving homes. Our fosters are happy to talk with you about these special cats and give you a better idea of their individual personalities and what kind of home would be the best fit for them. ❤️

🐾 Meet Alfie, Archie & Andy — Three Hearts Waiting for Someone to Believe in Them! 🐾

These handsome boys came to us from the North Hill neighborhood, and they were definitely a little older than we would typically take on when trapping cats to socialize. But they had something special going for them: feeders who were often nearby, giving us hope that these boys might learn to trust people. ❤️

We decided to take a chance on them, and we are SO glad we did!

All three have made incredible progress, and it has been so rewarding to watch them slowly come out of their shells. They still need a patient family willing to give them the time and space they need to feel safe, but we know the right people are out there for them!

💕 Alfie is the long-haired sweetheart of the group and, by far, the most outgoing. He loves kisses, being held like a baby, and snuggling over your shoulder. This boy is proof that sometimes all it takes is a little patience and a chance to show his true personality!

💕 Archie & Andy are a bit shyer than their brother, but they are loving boys in their own way. They may need more time to feel comfortable and trust their people, but with patience, kindness, and a family willing to let them blossom at their own pace, we believe they will continue to make wonderful progress.

🐱 All three are friendly with other cats! They have not been introduced to dogs, so we don't know how they would do with canine companions.

These boys may not be the cats who run straight up to every new person asking for attention, but that doesn't mean they don't have so much love to give. Sometimes, the most rewarding relationships are the ones you have to work a little harder to build. Watching a shy cat learn to trust you and choose you is something truly special. ❤️

LET’S GO BACK TO THE VERY BEGINNING… ❤️

Because sometimes we see a picture of a cat and forget there is an entire story behind those eyes.

Rizzo and Haywood have been waiting for their forever home for far too long. And when you know where they started, it’s even harder to understand why they’re still waiting. 💔

These two came to us after their owner’s home was raided by police. Pepper spray had been used inside the building, and in the middle of all that chaos, this mom and dad were separated from their kittens.

Rizzo and Haywood arrived in separate totes, each confined to a box with only tiny holes drilled into it for air. They had been in those boxes for more than 24 hours.

More than 24 hours of fear.
More than 24 hours of confusion.
And for Rizzo, more than 24 hours away from her babies.

When Rizzo arrived, she was understandably not very happy with the world. She was scared, overwhelmed, and a little grumpy. And honestly… who could blame her? 💔

But slowly, she learned that she was safe.

And she blossomed. ❤️

Today, Rizzo is this wonderful, funny, beautiful girl who still likes things her way. She can be stubborn and she definitely has an opinion about things. 😂 But underneath that strong personality is a cat who has learned to trust again.

And then there is Haywood.

Our sweet, gentle giant. 🥹

He is the calm to Rizzo’s sass. He is playful, loving, and just one of those cats who makes you smile simply by being around him.

I had the privilege of babysitting these two for a few weeks while their foster was away, and I can tell you firsthand…

These two are special.

They have been through so much together. They lost their home. They were separated from their babies. They were terrified and confined in those tiny boxes.

But somehow, through all of it, they still have so much love to give.

They have been waiting and waiting for someone to see what we see in them.

Someone to look past Rizzo's stubborn little personality.
Someone to appreciate Haywood's gentle soul.
Someone to fall in love with them together.

Because after everything they've been through, they deserve to know what it feels like to finally be home. 🏡❤️

🐾 HAYWOOD & RIZZO ARE STILL LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME! 🐾

They say opposites attract… and these two are living proof!

Haywood is the definition of a gentle giant. He’s a go-with-the-flow, chill kind of guy who is incredibly playful, loves chasing the laser, and is always happy to snuggle up with you.

And then there’s Rizzo… 😂 She is the complete opposite! Rizzo is the definition of a girl who wants what she wants, when she wants it, and how she wants it! She’s playful, loves to play fetch (when SHE decides it’s time 😉), and has plenty of personality. She can be a little stubborn and may get overstimulated, so she’ll need a patient person who is willing to let her adjust to her new home at her own pace.

But these two together are absolutely comical They will never leave you bored, and their goofy, playful antics are sure to keep a smile on your face every day.

🏡 They would do best in a quiet home without children or other pets.

We are still searching for that perfect home for Haywood and Rizzo, and we know it’s out there!

Meet bonded pair Silas & Smudge: Hand Raised Bottle Baby Orphans from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This perfect tuxedo duo are joined at the hip. Silas & Smudge are a brother/sister pair rescued as neonatal twins who were sadly disposed of in the trash, which is far too common in Mexico. Lucky for them, they were rescued by the Balam Foundation (our rescue partner) and bottle fed until they could be weaned. They are unbelievably sweet and friendly, believing all humans to be their mom, they are dog-like cats. Very smart and charismatic, these two will charm you! They must be adopted together. Bonded pairs are best! They are 5 months old. Vaccinated, Sterilized, dewormed, given flea and tick preventative as well as being tested FIV and FeLV. It’s been a WHILE since we did a $5 Friday and purrrr the usual we need your support!

Bandit here is one of our newest intakes and he’s here to tell you things are looking up 😂After losing his human he was alone in an apartment for two months with just a nice man dropping in to feed him but he’s LONELY and looking for his forever family.

This ham chop is what we like to call the perfect cat. He is a lover alllllll day long and just wants to be cozy with you.

$5 means a lot to us! We’ve been helping not only our own rescue cats but helping independent trappers cover the costs of their TNR kitties flee treatments and vaccines.
